We enjoy our freedoms and a safer country thanks to the service and sacrifice of our fallen heroes and their loved ones.
Never forget—on this Memorial Day or any other. 🇺🇸
“ Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.”- Unknown. You will never be forgotten !
I was a hostage in Iran 47 years ago. I was held in Evin Prison—one of the most notorious prisons in the country—and moved through other miserable, isolated cells across Iran. Those memories never leave you. That is why what I am seeing today fills me with rage and dread. The same system that brutalized prisoners then is now turning its full machinery of repression against its own people.
Under a deliberate nationwide internet blackout, Iran’s deep state—the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the regular military (Artesh), and the political apparatus embodied by figures such as Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf—has moved to crush dissent through mass killing.
Videos emerging despite the blackout show scenes that are almost unbearable: confused and screaming families standing beside bodies wrapped in black bags, piled in makeshift medical centers, scattered across courtyards in the south of Tehran. These are not isolated incidents. According to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRNA), this violence is systematic and verified.
The regime insists on its familiar language of dehumanization, warning Iranians not to join “rioters,” “terrorists,” or foreign-backed “mercenaries.”
Moreover, President Masoud Pezeshkian has publicly drawn a line between “peaceful protesters” and those he claims seek to “disrupt the entire society.”
History teaches us what comes next when a government uses such words. This is not chaos—it is strategy. It is a full-throated crackdown meant to terrorize a population into silence. I have seen this regime up close before.
The world must not look away now.
Heartbreaking images of the Christian genocide in Nigenia. In each coffin are children, fathers, brothers, and friends. But they don't interest any European. There are no Greta Flotillas for them. There are no media!
I don’t know what to say that hasn’t already been said, but my heartfelt condolences go out to the families of Fletcher Merkel, 8 years old and Harper Moyski, 10 years old. I cannot even begin to fathom the pain their parents are feeling, or the terror these children must have felt in what should have been the safest of places. My heart goes out to their families, who now have to live with unimaginable loss. Of those injured,14 are children, ages 6-15, and 3 elderly parishioners in their 80’s. My prayers are with them to find strength and healing. In my attempt to do something, however small, I want to share a few of the trusted ways the families and community have set up for people to help:
-Annunciation Response Fund -text ACF1 to 41444
Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota who are supporting the affected families
-Verified fundraisers for injured survivors are being collected on GoFundMe’s Official Minneapolis Catholic School shooting hub. As new family funds are verified, they will be added to the centralized hub.
Even if you cannot give, keeping Fletcher and Harper’s names alive, speaking them, remembering them, matters.

In case any of you haven’t seen the story of Shoshan Haran. This was first published shortly after October 7, but it’s an important reminder of who it was the Gazans went after and slaughtered on that day.
Never forget what happened.
Never forget what they did.
America has lost a great American hero. Jim Lovell. An honor to have met him during the filming of Apollo 13. Pictured here with his wife Marilyn at a LT Dan Band concert at Great Lakes Naval base in 2010. R.I. P. my friend.
If you are an elected congressional representative…
AND you are an elected congressional representative in Washington DC…
AND you are an elected congressional representative in Washington DC who proudly proclaims their allegiance to a foreign nation…
You should be removed. Period. Do not pass “GO,” do not collect $200.
You obviously don’t have the best interests of the United States in mind, so you need to be removed.
Maybe you should go back to your foreign nation and help out over there.
At least 21 Christians who had gathered to pray at a church were killed when suspected Islamist militants attacked a town in eastern DRC.
Please pray for all those affected by this latest devastating attack in the region.

Anyone who targets first responders, whether it's law enforcement, EMS personnel, or especially firefighters, must be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We live in a deeply broken world where someone can deliberately start a fire just to ambush the very people risking their lives to stop a wildfire and save others. It’s not just vile it’s cowardly, inhuman, and absolutely unforgivable.
Even if a third party could avoid simply splitting the right (as the Whigs once did), there's no reason to believe it would escape the fate of every "principled" movement that came before. Washington sucks almost everyone into the swamp.
The problem has never been the party label. It's the system that makes them indistinguishable once they reach power. That machine has to be dismantled.
The most effective way to do that IMO is by going upstream and using the tool the Founders gave us for exactly this situation: Article V of the Constitution.
Install reform-minded legislatures in just 15 more states, and we can force a Convention of States. With that, we can impose term limits, strip D.C. of its ability to manufacture lifetime political careers, and finally break the cycle for good.
This is faster, cheaper, and far more likely to succeed than building a new party and hoping it doesn’t get eaten alive in the swamp.
