@AaronBastani Confused as to why the Greens have made this a fundamental component of their identity as a party. Who is for the normal person now. Which party caters for those who aren't a student, middle classes or a metropolitan "elite" or an ethnic minority? Who is for the town in England?
@F1foundation1@MattGunner32@JolyonRubs I don't think it excludes him no, why would I? People are arguing past each other. Of course it's self identified, they don't make you take a test. Clearly English is both a cultural-national identity and an ethnicity. This was never previously controversial.
@F1foundation1@MattGunner32@JolyonRubs One section is about describing your national identity, one is about your ethnicity. Both sides are wilfully misunderstanding each other in this debate. There is obviously a cultural identity of "English" and an ethnic identity. One is a matter of ancestry like every ethnicity
@AdnanHussainMP Yep this is obviously correct but Labour hold many incongruent positions but they are either too naive to notice them or being disingenuous. I suspect highly it is the first point.
@DPJHodges@andrew_lilico I find it is only the so called anti-racists who are obsessed with skin colour as an ethnic definition. Whether correct or not it is surprisingly common for ppl to answer the question "what is your nationality?" with an ethnic response. Obviously you expect the answer UK/british
@johnmilbank3 OK you don't want the far right to adopt it but those people are still far more likely to embrace it whole cloth than the nicey people who will want concessions that ultimately strip it of all ritual and symbolism anyway.
@johnmilbank3 The CoE is indistinguishable now from the 'secular" extreme protestant sect of hyperliberalism. What can it offer to these people to bring them back? Despite its castrated status it still to them represents some idea of the "tradition" that they falsely think they can repudiate.
@JoshuaBarzon Rambo IV is better than the first 3. Blade 1 is in a different stratosphere to the other 2, it's the only one worth viewing today. Terminator 1 is better than T2. Alien and Aliens are equal. Rest are mostly accurate.
@xenocosmography@captive_dreamer You're a smart guy Nick surely you understand that it isn't a question of failure. Restore at most can be a right wing pressure group but they are never going to attract the levels of support that social media indicates. Their position is not anglo compatible. You surely know it
@HarrygPettit@AyoCaesar The left as ever is the sow that eats her own farrow. @AaronBastani becoming the villain here is madness. He's the only prominent leftist living in the real world asking practical questions and seeking workable solutions towards a better society. Too impure now apparently tho.
@AaronBastani@Alonso_GD Come on man don't prostrate yourself to this. You did nothing wrong. The social media culture of sin and punishment is absurd. What a bizarre theatre of calling out "witch hunts" yet responding with an inquisition. Demanding repentance from you, a laughable lack of self awareness
@AaronBastani People so overwhelmed with discourse around discrimination that they have lost their senses. In reality the well meaning academics have taken the same view as the race realist who originally criticised Arday. Which is such a dim view of his ability they held him to no standard.
@AaronBastani Why don't they pick people that actually have an interest and God forbid a plan for the department in question? Has Shabana got some great solution to sort the economy? I don't think I've ever heard her talk about this stuff. It's embarrassing stuff, same as the Tories.
@AaronBastani Why should the general public have a worthwhile opinion on this? I'm not for or against but it would be more honest if the proponents stated their true intentions with such a tax. It's not likely to raise some meaningful amount of revenue. This is primarily a class war policy.
@AaronBastani It's a very silly discussion. It also ignores the fact that "athletes" in the Europe also choose other sports. The best athlete might be an olympian or a rugby player or whatever. It's not like there is football and nothing else here.
@AaronBastani Yeh the thinking is really bizarre. It also means that it is easy to accuse them of simply being a cardboard cut out for the treasury bean counters. Which clearly that's what recent Chancellors have become.
