Ticketmaster is a scourge and using it as an official ticketing platform for a film festival is incredibly bizarre. It's genuinely insane that people are allowed to buy and re-sell TIFF tickets pretty much the day they go on sale. The new Miyazaki is going for over $300 US

22% of Canadian homebuilders cancel projects amid high rates despite severe housing shortage. I predicted this a year ago and now we have the data.

This is going to get worse before it gets better - it would be great to see a crisis level response to this from our Federal gov't, because that is what we need.

Financing is a major challenge. Major. The gov't needs to step up and use all of the mechanisms in its power, through CMHC, to respond to this moment.

Slow approvals processes were a problem in the past - today the issue is financing as a result of high interest rates. These projects being cancelled already have planning/zoning approvals. Think about that for a second - this is a major shift in just two years.

Crisis level response required from all levels of government.

Yes; and a government/culture that normalizes this and reinforces it is to blame for our lack of housing that working people, young people, and newcomers can afford.

Treating housing like an asset class, instead of a home, is one of the reasons it functions in our economy like an asset class - and not very well as homes, for many. Two sides of the same coin.

Just do y’all know Toronto rental prices are a direct result of ford who runs the provincial side of things in Ontario. When he was elected he got rid of rent control and as a result the 2.5 percent cap that was in place before is no longer there.
