“African ideas and evidence-based solutions must lead the future of Africa,” said the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. @DCP_Haddadi , at the inaugural Think Tank Coordination and Capacity-Strengthening Workshop for the African Think Tank Platform (#ATTP).
The message was echoed by stakeholders, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening Africa-led research and policymaking. The #ATTP is building the capacity of think tanks to generate policy-ready research that advances #Agenda2063 and supports more effective decision-making across the continent. From trade and digitalisation to climate and food security, the platform is translating continental priorities into measurable impact.

The Kofi Annan Fellows in Global Health Leadership – Cohort 3 just wrapped up their 3rd residential in Morocco.
During their week-long stay, 18 Fellows from 14 African Union Member States delved into Morocco's successful public-private partnership model in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. They received an expert lecture from Prof. Abdurrahman Maaroufi the Director General of Institute Pasteur Morocco, visited vaccine and diagnostics manufacturing facilities, and explored Morocco's pandemic preparedness plan. Other key highlight include insightful visit to the National Health Insurance Agency, showcasing Morocco's commitment to equitable access to quality healthcare and social protection. Morocco’s health system is ranked 29th globally ahead of countries like Canada and the USA.
His Excellency Dr. Khalid Ait Taleb, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, shared Morocco's ongoing health system reform. He emphasized expanding healthcare coverage to under-served areas, improving the availability of high-quality health services, strengthening the healthcare workforce, and improving the governance of the country’s health system.
Described as "inspirational" by the fellows, this residential left them eager to apply their newfound knowledge in their home countries. Morocco expressed openness to collaborate further, echoing the vision of ‘The Africa We Want’.
A big thank you to His Majesty Mohammed VI, H.E.Dr. Khalid Ait Taleb, Prof. Abdurrahman Maaroufi, and the People of #Morocco for their hospitality and openness. Together, we're shaping a healthier Africa!
