@BenjaminHouy I don't understand why B2C business owners can't just start out with a button in the interface that deletes your account. Also easier for testing
@chuckiegregory I have spent a lot of time going back and forth with both Claude and ChatGPT about this exact thing and the sort answer is: "because you can't".
I feel that the right agentic coding product has still not landed. I tried ao Codex, Opencode, Claude Code, Cursor, T3Code and currently Herdr but there is still so much friction at every step. Feel that agentic coding needs it's VSCode moment, but scared of building it because whatever you do now will be obsolete in 3 weeks. Anyone else experiencing this?
@wangzhr4@ThisAndrewByrd I'm not an Ubuntu hater, but would describe Fedora GNOME as Ubuntu without snap and have been running that for years as my main driver without any issues besides the occasional mild annoyance. Massively stable and free (also as in free of opinions).
I agree, but the current state is very painful. AI is not good enough to 1-shot many things yet and the interfaces to make AI check it's own work are not there or require extensive setup. This leaves you as a copy paste monkey in between where often you don't understand enough anymore to be useful on the detail level. I hope this passes quickly because it's extremely frustrating ATM IMO

@0xdoug I was exactly this beginning of last week after Astra entirely nuking my project. All fun in coding is lost and we also can't go back. Painfully accurate
@dhh Hard disagree. To put into law that you have the right to delete your account and not get spammed is a very good thing, and whatever friction is introduced in the process is caused by malicious compliance. If you can make money selling software you can also make an opt-in button
@mitsuhiko Thanks for writing this detailed account. Astra literally destroyed two of my projects up to a point where I just reverted 5 hours of work. It simply wasn't going anywhere. This was after taking hours of back and forth to finalize the design. Glad I'm not the only one struggling
If AI is so general, how come every time I do something which involves a lot of HTTP requests I always have to ask to parallelize it? Shouldn't it come up with these types of things by itself? Literally nobody wants the serial version
Start of a new project: wow, AI is so great! I can just ask anything and it one shots it. Unlimited building capabilities!
20 prompts in and slightly complex app: yeah everything is fucked now
Genuine question, I have two small kids now and am astonished by how much time they take to "train their neural nets". Like the first phase of their lives is literally banging objects and licking things for a year to see how these things respond. Isn't the reason we can learn how to code without absorbing all of GitHub that we already have WAY more training data to go on which seems unrelated, but is genuinely useful, especially for systems invented by life forms with similar training data? Because in that case intelligence = skill over a different timeline
