[WHO in occupied Palestinian territory @WHOoPt]

Nearly 42 000 people in the #Gaza Strip have life-changing injuries caused by the ongoing conflict. One in four of these injuries are in children - latest WHO estimates released today.

Life-changing injuries account for one quarter of all reported injuries, of a total of 167 376 people injured since October 2023.

Over 5000 people have faced amputation.

To ensure access to care and scale up health services, including rehabilitation, that there must be:
🔹urgent protection of health care
🔹unhindered access to fuel and supplies
🔹removal of restrictions on the entry of essential medical items, including assistive devices.

Above all, @WHO calls for an immediate ceasefire.

Today, in partnership with my friend, French Foreign Minister @jnbarrot, I chaired the International Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Issue and Implementation of the Two-State Solution. This aims to end the occupation, empower the Palestinian people to secure their legitimate rights, and establish their independent state, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and UN resolutions.
