A successful night with the #thermal last night with @iainmalzer. 3 Jack snipe caught along with a woodcock, 3 skylark and a redwing! Still not many woodcock about but seeing these little nocturnal bombers is well worth a walk in the dark. @BTO_Scotland
Amazing week on #Tiree. Big passage of whimbrel. Calling #corncrakes from wee iris beds and nettle patchs. Good numbers of breeding #waders on the #machair. All about low density wide roaming cattle grazing and maintaining little wet corners #RSPBEcology
Peat dams on @RSPBScotland Yell reserve. Went in last autumn, holding water back on the bog now. Delivering for #carbon capture and #wildlife. Backdrop of golden plover and #curlew calls #RSPBEcology
So excited about this project and the different people I get to work with in the name of species conservation. well done @merlyndriver major milestone for the #curlewsounds project!
On #Shetland@RSPBScotland reserves we've had dedicated students looking at how #curlew productivity relates to habitat/field management. Nest success looks good & following chicks shows diverse fields with invert rich wet features offer best feeding. Keep it varied! #RSPBEcology
