@MaxAnderson I have spent near 1m+/mo in Google search for over a decade. It’s been a battle to keep performance while Google captures margin from advertisers.
In August, they will update bidding and budgets for target CPA, effectively wasting clicks to max out bids and budgets.
Google squeezing advertisers, diluting performance, and picking up budget. Watch $GOOG Q4 earnings
Starting August 17, 2026: Example: If your campaign's Target CPA is $10, but your recent actual CPA performance is $5, your campaign will deliver more closely to a $10 actual CPA

@BasedMikeLee According to the latest IRS data (tax year 2022), the top 1% of taxpayers paid 40.4% of all federal individual income taxes.
The top 10% paid 72.0%.
The bottom 50% paid just 3.0%.
Go upmarket, you scale faster, with less churn.
And if you also stay downmarket too >at the same time< and keep serving those small customers well?
Then you end up with a product that is both super powerful. And with unparalleled ease-of-use.
For those of us who grew up in the 1980s, there were two teams who were always on.
The Braves (TBS) and the Cubs (WGN).
By default, Dale Murphy and Ryne Sandberg became part of our childhood.
A piece of all of us is lost now.

JUST IN - Apple removes cloud encryption feature from UK after the government ordered the company to build a backdoor for accessing user data — Bloomberg
It’s amazing that our government will tell you with a straight face that they can’t stop a regional fire, but if you just pay more in taxes, they can change the entire global climate.
It’s even more amazing that anyone believes them.
The NIH apparently spent $1.87B to study racism in 2024.
This money came from us, as US taxpayers, which begs the question: what else could we have done with that money?
Answer: We could have given free internet to 5.4% of the entire rural population of America.
Remember there is a $42B program somewhere else to do that, and it’s achieved nothing so far.
Math:
$1.87B / ($120*12) = 1.301M rural households paying for Starlink for a year.
There are ~60M Rural Americans.
60M / 2.51 ppl/household = 23.9M Rural Households in America.
1.301M / 23.9M = 5.4%
The @Starbucks decline correlates with policy change where a black coffee order waits behind everyone's custom drinks. Wait 15 mins for a black coffee? I stopped going.
Keep it simple. Black coffee is probably highest margin.
If distribution is the new moat, where is the Y-Combinator for creating distribution, not software?
I don’t think it exists.
There isn’t much product risk anymore in most startups.
Only distribution risk.
The @GOPSenate is so irresponsible it’s like paying for your neighbor’s kitchen remodel on your credit card, then telling your kids you can’t afford Christmas this year
Senator @MikeCrapo and most of the @GOPSenate have never run a business and probably can’t explain the impact Section 174 has on technology businesses and owners.
They pile on debt to send Ukraine aide, while blocking a bill that helps entrepreneurs and families in the US. 🤡
