For those of you who have at least a 3.625/5 CGPA, you can still target Iceland 🇮🇸 for MSc and move with your family but here are some important updates.
▪︎ Applications for the 2027–2028 academic year open mid-December 2026 (deadline usually 1 February 2027). Although, some schools will open sooner (October 5th).
📍Key points right now:
▪︎ Public universities (e.g. University of Iceland) still have no tuition fees only for students who started (or were admitted to start) in autumn 2026.
▪︎ From autumn 2027, non-EEA students will pay full tuition fees (amounts not yet announced).
📍Updated requirements & costs:
▪︎ Minimum CGPA: 3.625/5 (strong target – actual requirements vary by programme)
▪︎ CV
▪︎ Motivation letter
▪︎ IELTS (or accepted equivalent)
▪︎ Official transcripts
▪︎ Proof of financial subsistence (POF) – required for the student residence permit and family members
▪︎ Non-refundable fees (University of Iceland):
–Annual registration fee: 100,000 ISK (~$810)
– Processing fee for non-EEA applicants: 20,000 ISK (~$160)
▪︎ BSc only (HND not accepted for most master’s programmes)
You can bring your spouse and children under 18 once you have a full-time student residence permit (family applications are processed separately and take longer).
▪︎ Living costs in Iceland are quite high, so solid POF is essential.
Reach out if you want to prepare documents early and get ready for the December application window.
The FGN reforms are good
It was expedient to remove subsidy on PMS and $
The problem is they removed subsidy then went to sleep, no palliatives, no cushion
As we type are these fleets of electric buses moving about helping commuters reduce transport cost?
There is even talk of removing power bands meaning power costs go up
Food nko? Has security improved to make food supply increase?
It’s like you have a car, you drive your kids 10km to school, then your salary is reduced, so you tell your kid to walk 10km to school because you can’t afford PMS but you turnaround and you buy a second car to add to your first that only you uses
Second car? Salary reduced? Yes, it’s what it is
The Federal Justices are not supposed to be paid by the Federal Government, but by the Federation.
If federal judges are accepting gifts from the Executive, then they are paid by the Executive, not the Federation.
What stops the Judiciary from inserting these CAPEX into their first-line budgets?
You can't grow an economy when investors do not trust the judiciary.
How do lawyers say it, "Justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done"
