@ole_b_peters Hello. This is really cool! But, doesn't EUT cover this if you explicitly model out dynamics? e.g. you can derive the kelly betting formula by maximizing expected log wealth, so most Macro models with value functions should be fine, no?

One of my favorite papers in recent years included this diagram. It shows the impact of controlling for three different types of variables: confounders, colliders, and mediators.
With confounders, control is good. With the others, you ruin your result by controlling.

@harijayashankar I think it'd be nice if more top programs admitted more students, allowed them longer time periods to finish their traditional first-year reqs, and kept quals/prelims. That's how Nancy Birdsall completed her PhD.
