Delayed with my family on a flight back from @FiumicinoRome. @jet2tweets has been incredible in communicating updates and looking after us. Unfortunately we’re not in the best bit of the airport but Jet2 has done the best it can with what’s on offer. Excellent customer service.
Has anyone else tried to cancel a @PracticalLawUK subscription and found themselves questioning the life choices that have led them to this point in their career?
@jackwshepherd I couldn’t agree more. The legal profession is rife with laziness. It also annoys me when lawyers use precedents to create first drafts of contracts or, even worse, standard documents! Pure laziness. As for those scoundrels who haven’t disabled spellcheckers, don’t get me started
@VirginRadioUK - every morning I hear Chris ask “Did you know that you can link your Alexa and Virgin Radio accounts?” but there is no explanation WHY we would want to do that. We listen to Virgin every morning on our Alexa but why link accounts?
+ Just because it's #LegalTech doesn't mean I want to be chauffeured around during a demo. I need a free trial to test it out myself. Imagine buying a car and being refused a test drive - that's suspicious, right?
I could fill my days with #LegalTech demos, but when I ask for a free trial to test it out, it is 9 times out of 10 a no-go. Instead, I am offered another demo with someone more senior, so I can watch them go through a slightly different but still carefully choreographed use case
@ZachAbramowitz@heyitsalexsu AI adoption in law firms may soar, but let's face it - some of them still struggle with basic document formatting. It's like trying to teach a caveman quantum physics.
@jackwshepherd @oliver_twiste From my experience, law firms readily offer these conversations with in-house counsel, however the significant differences in their practices generally make them unfruitful for both parties
@Inventorship_ip @ZachAbramowitz + it won’t shrink the profession. The global revenues of the Big4 are pretty healthy. But the job of transcribing columns of figures is now rare. We will enter a period of change as roles and value are redistributed. Uncomfortable for a profession, little changed in 150 years.
@Inventorship_ip @ZachAbramowitz + I think ChatGPT is a very cool tool. I think it will have a similar effect on the legal profession as spreadsheets had on the finance industry in 1980s. A single accountant with Excel can do the same work today as an army of bookkeepers 50 years ago.
@ZachAbramowitz There’s an opportunity missed in using ChatGPT as if it were a lawyer. Last time I checked the world wasn’t generally demanding more lawyers. The opportunity for the legal sector is where else can AI take us? This requires creative thinking - a skill lawyers famously lack
