Introducing MicroFactory DevKit
The first production version of MicroFactory — a general-purpose robot designed to automate manual work.
With a glimpse of self-replication.
Stanford just hosted a hackathon. Over 1000 students from around the world came to build for 36 hours straight.
The reward? $100k+ in prizes.
Here are the winners and crowd standouts we saw at TreeHacks ‘24 @hackwithtrees (🧵):
I see 25yo devs getting hired as senior developers 🥸 I also see a lot of job offers for senior Rust engineers
Back in my old days, senior developers had 1200+ years of experience 👵🏻 like Gandalf
Has “senior” really become a meaningless buzz word? An alias for “motivated”?
Worked with a guy at Microsoft who was a 10x engineer
He reported directly to the CTO of our org
His only job was to figure out insanely hard problems
I watched this in real time
CTO gave him a problem, he downloaded the text book on Android to his kindle, read it every day for 2 weeks, worked none stop for a week, was the first person in the world to figure it out
Then he'd just dip on vacation for 1-3 weeks
Just kept repeating this cycle
I don’t know if this is relevant to this thread: OpenAI is supposed to be a non-profit (lol) research-first organization that democratizes AI (lol). Microsoft is a capitalist capitalizing in full caps. Arguably the most ruthless capitalists out there.
