It was not ‘for nothing’ This was the plan all along. This roster wasn’t built for a title run. It was built with a 2026/27 vision. Everyone had the JT return wrong…it was always about getting him the reps he needed. This is exactly why Brad Stevens refused to put a ceiling on this team. They exceeded expectations in the regular season & props to @John_Karalis on LockedOnCeltics for nailing this months before Tatum actually returned.

I'm very happy that I came back to be a part of this team, got back to doing what I love, to help give us a chance to compete for a championship, to prove to myself that I can get back to being the guy who I was, and hopefully better. And just to kind of defy what this injury means — not necessarily from a standpoint of, ‘I'm great look at what I was able to accomplish,‘ but to give other guys hope.

Obviously I don't want anybody to have to go through tearing their Achilles, but in the unfortunate event that it does happen, that I can be sort of inspirational — if you attack rehab a certain way if you follow these guidelines, or do it a certain way, that it's not like a career-ending injury, that you can come back, that you can be yourself, that you can be better, that it won't take 18 months, that you can come back, whenever is right for you.

So I'm happy and proud of the fact that I was able to do that, and unfortunately, if somebody else has to deal with this, they can look at what I was able to do and and have some hope and inspiration that it's not what people used to think it was. And, you can come back from this, and be who you were and hopefully be better.“

I’m an AI critic who is also a staff software engineer. I am extremely familiar with what AI can and can’t be useful for. It’s best use cases are not as a consumer LLM product for writing prose or generating images and video, which is the main way it is being sold to the public. The downstream negative effects of data centers, as well as the obvious issues with giving anyone the ability to create realistic deepfakes of living people doing anything you want them to do are enough to demand that AI be highly regulated. It is like arguing that every person have access to an atom bomb. It’s best utility is on closed datasets not essay writing and insert yourself into your favorite marvel movie.
