“Supersósolido”

🚨 ÚLTIMA HORA: Por primera vez, científicos italianos del CNR lograron que la luz se comporte como un sólido (¡un supersólido fotónico!).
Publicado en Nature (5 marzo 2025): crearon un estado exótico donde la luz tiene estructura cristalina rígida y fluye sin fricción.
Lo hicieron con polaritones (híbridos luz-materia) en un cristal fotónico de semiconductor. Los polaritones formaron un condensado cuántico que se organiza como un cristal pero se mueve como superfluido.
No es “congelar” la luz literal en el vacío, sino hacer que exhiba propiedades de materia sólida y líquida al mismo tiempo. Un avance en física cuántica que abre puertas a nueva fotónica y computación óptica.

Un grupo d hackers autodenominado «Anonymous for Justice» afirma haber hackeado bases d datos,laboratorios y planos d armas israelíes.
El grupo también publicó archivos con documentos y fotos q pertenecen a oficiales y científicos israelíes.

I watched a junior admin fix a permission error.

He logged into the server.
He ran chmod 777 /var/app.
The error stopped.
He shrugged and said it just needed to work.

I asked him if he enjoyed living dangerously or just hated the principle of least privilege.

He looked confused and said chmod 777 was standard for dev.
I told him 777 means anyone can write. A typo in the wrong directory and the whole server is compromised. He wouldn't know which user actually needed access.

I showed him ls -la.
The file was owned by the wrong user. chown fixed it without 777.
I told him chmod 777 costs us a compliance violation waiting to happen.

I made him recite the principle of least privilege before lunch for a week.

The study below runs 10 benchmark problems in 28 languages [1]. It measures the runtime, memory usage, and energy consumption of each language. The abstract of the paper is shown below.

“This paper presents a study of the runtime, memory usage and energy consumption of twenty seven well-known software languages. We monitor the performance of such languages using ten different programming problems, expressed in each of the languages. Our results show interesting findings, such as, slower/faster languages consuming less/more energy, and how memory usage influences energy consumption. We show how to use our results to provide software engineers support to decide which language to use when energy efficiency is a concern”. [2]
