CDA accused of ignoring elite clubs’ encroachments while targeting slums...
Islamabad Club, which was set up on leased land, is accused of encroaching on over 51 kanal of CDA land.
Also, the Gun and Country Club, is operating without any allotment or lease letter from the CDA on around 256 kanal. Very good story by @AbbasiKashif833

Bari Imam Abadi is central to the identity of this city. The people of Bari Imam have been living here since pre-partition times and have nowhere to go. The Islamabad administration and CDA are displacing thousands of families and arresting those who resist their erasure. There are widows, working-class people, disabled people, and children. Where does the administration think these people will go? They are barely surviving on earnings under 50k a month. The state cannot do this with impunity. You are responsible for providing housing for all! The state isn’t just shirking responsibility but creating homelessness itself. #StopIslamabadEvictions https://t.co/BEeF1rZqtI
Massive evictions are taking place across #Islamabad. Thousands of families are being forcefully displaced with no alternative housing. Some of these settlements are pre-partition which means they were here before many of us moved to Islamabad.
One of the Christian abaadis under threat is also one of the oldest Christian neighbourhoods in the city where workers of the city reside. Some of these residents are literally the builders of this city, they can name which public infrastructure they helped build.
In addition, Rimsha Colony which is another Christian Abaadi where CDA and Islamabad administration themselves settled people are also facing an eviction threat. Please bear in mind this is happening to thousands of Islamabad residents who have built, the city, they run the city and provide services to all. From sanitation workers to house helpers, lab technicians to nurses, drivers to mechanics - everyone who serves the city lives in these areas. Islamabad is the most expensive city of Pakistan. Where does the state think these people will go? Amidst a global crisis with soaring prices of basic commodities - when will state fulfil its basic obligations? These evictions are anti-people, cruel and inhumane. They should be halted at once. #StopIslamabadEvictions #SaveH9 #SaveNurpur #SaveBariImam
We have DHA 2,4,5, and entire bahria town in the catchment area AND floodplains of this river. Not to mention other housing schemes fueled by real estate greed all the way till Chakri, and a whole university campus few feet away from the river.
Let's blame climate change 👍
Pakistan's real estate sector in its current form is a gift that keeps on giving: diverts investment from productive sectors, attracts black money, displaces poor communities, weakens food supply, increases flood risk, burdens electricity grid, generates heat-island effect & more
Late to mention it but I authored a UNDP report last year which mapped the journeys of Pakistan's transgender political candidates to illustrate the obstacles and opportunities for the community’s inclusion in the country's democratic processes:

The GT Road Megalopolis has the worst air quality in the entire world, AQI levels in the region are hazardous, making it unlivable. Increasing vehicular traffic, industrial emissions, and construction activity brought us here. https://t.co/ijz0ArRI6g
Islamabad is a city only for the rich. There are no affordable living options for young professionals, nor are there any public or private hostels. Daily commute for people living in the outskirts of ISB is expensive. There are no decent transport options for women either.
Proposed changes to the constitution along with the existing clauses.
1. Amendment to Article 17, which would replace "Supreme Court" with the new "Constitutional Court" to decide the dissolution of political parties. This can be used to permanently ban @PTIofficial

ask a paki what qualifies for good infrastructure and they'll show you a road in a country where car ownership % has never crossed the double digits
awfully nice when your "heaven on earth" is only traversable by 6%, while the actual city next to it functions as a labour colony
A security-centered narrative regarding social media and internet hurts the weakest, poorest, most marginalised parts of the population the hardest.
Women are more likely to find themselves trapped in poverty and without access to education, esp in regions where Wardah works
A painter who was working in my place for a month passed away at the new Ghora Chowk intersection this evening as he was hit by the Mazda from the back, which then went over his head.
The boy died on the spot, and there wasn't any ambulance for him for another hour!
In Rawalpindi as well as many other places police used voter lists to pin point Ahmadies & then proceeded to force them sign affidavits that they will not sacrifice on Eid days.
Later same lists were used by TLP terrorists to attack houses of Ahmadies where they checked (Indian bhakts style vigilantes) fridges & freezers for meat.
It is important to mention that every Pakistani regardless of their faith or religion is one same voter list but Ahmadies are put on a separate voter lists.
