Kano–Maradi Railway: A Game-Changer for Northern Nigeria's Economy and Regional Trade.

As part of our ongoing Gani Ya Kori Ji tour of the key Federal Government projects in North, the Gani Ya Kori Ji Tour team, under the leadership of Mallam Abdulaziz Abdulaziz (@Abdulfagge), Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment, visited the ongoing Kano–Maradi Standard Gauge Railway Project to assess the level of work and engage with project officials.

The Kano–Maradi Railway is one of the Federal Government's flagship transportation projects. It is designed to connect Northern Nigeria with the Republic of Niger, facilitating seamless movement of passengers and goods while promoting regional trade and economic integration.

The railway's main line stretches approximately 284–285 kilometres from Kano to Maradi, while an additional 108-kilometre branch line connects Kano to Dutse in Jigawa State. Altogether, the project covers a total railway network of about 392–393 kilometres, making it one of the largest railway developments in Northern Nigeria.

During the inspection, the Project Site Manager briefed the Gani Ya Kori Ji Tour team on the progress of construction and expressed confidence that the project is on course for completion before the end of the year, provided work continues according to schedule.

Upon completion, the Kano–Maradi Railway will significantly reduce the cost of transporting goods and passengers, ease pressure on major highways, improve cross-border trade between Nigeria and the Republic of Niger, and stimulate economic activities across Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, and neighbouring communities. The project is also expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for engineers, technicians, artisans, transport operators, traders, logistics companies, and many other skilled and unskilled workers.

Beyond its economic benefits, the railway will encourage industrial development, attract local and foreign investments, enhance agricultural value chains by providing farmers with easier access to markets, and reinforce Kano's position as a major commercial gateway for Northern Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

The Kano–Maradi Railway Project stands as another clear demonstration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, reflecting the administration's commitment to modern infrastructure, regional integration, economic prosperity, and sustainable development for the people of Northern Nigeria and the nation at large.

This is the before and after of the Benin–Sapele–Warri Road (Section III: Ibada–Elume–Warri axis) in Delta State under President Tinubu.

Anyone familiar with the previous condition of this road would understand just how remarkable this transformation is. What was once a difficult and nearly impassable stretch has now been rebuilt into a smooth, durable road that supports movement, commerce, and connectivity.

This is not imagination. This is progress you can see.

Dear Northerners, anyone telling you that the NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is saying bandits are our brothers and should not be eliminated, is not telling you the full story.

If you could remember during the Arewa Consultative Forum meeting in Kaduna, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu openly listed bandit leaders who were already eliminated and even their pictures were presented, called them murderers, and said others will face the same if they don’t stop.
