Didn’t generate whiffs directly from fb - even though velo was plus and ivb was solid. He landed his fb for strikes so hitters had to respect it - which caused him to get lots of swings and misses on his other pitches. I think that’s his recipe for success - have a good enough fastball in order to wipeout hitters with his slider, splitter and forkball.

It was reported that Dave Roberts coached him to watch Kevin Gausman to match his pacing. Since then Roki has picked up his tempo and that also has contributed to generating more whiffs. The batters’ brains are not given time to reset from one pitch to the next.

I just do not want to be locked into those vendors and their subscription pricing.

Rate limiting, resiliency and data sovereignty will make the case for local LLMs stronger over time.
