My prayers are with the family, loved ones, and staff of Senator Lindsey Graham as we learn of his sudden, tragic passing. I join countless Americans in honoring his decades of service, both in the U.S. Air Force and in our government.
I’m saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. He dedicated his life to public service, serving the people of South Carolina well. He was a dear friend and colleague to many and will be so missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and staff at this time.
Vicki and I are saddened to hear about the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. Lindsey was a dear friend and colleague whose warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to public service will be deeply missed. He loved America deeply and devoted his life to serving our nation and fighting for what he believed was in its best interest. We extend our deepest condolences and are praying for his family during this difficult time.
For most of my public service in Congress, I had the privilege of calling Lindsey Graham not only a colleague in both the House and Senate, but a loyal and generous friend. He was a formidable public servant who held the line on issues important to him and South Carolinians with unwavering courage. As an Air Force veteran and foreign policy hawk, he traveled the world demonstrating America’s strength and resolve. To our nation’s allies, he was a friend. To our adversaries, he was unflinching. Lindsey was a staunch conservative, and he shepherded the Senate Budget Committee through the critical steps of the budget reconciliation process. His work put more money in Americans’ pockets and kept our homeland safe. On the Senate Judiciary Committee, he safeguarded the federal judiciary and conducted much needed oversight. Senator Graham enriched the lives of those of us who knew him. He will be deeply missed, and I offer my sincere condolences to his family, staff and other loved ones during this difficult time.
We join countless others in extending our deepest condolences to the family, friends, staff, and the people of South Carolina on the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. His decades of public service left a lasting mark on our nation. May he rest in peace, and may his loved ones find comfort in the memories of a life well lived.

July 4 1776, as America celebrates 250 years, remember that 56 men signed what the British considered an act of treason. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor so we could live free.
Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸
Two hundred fifty years ago, our courageous forebears stood firm against tyranny. They did not shrink from the moment. Instead, they declared with bold resolve that governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed — not from the arbitrary will of kings or distant parliaments.
As the Declaration of Independence so eloquently proclaims:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
They made a sacred vow:
“...we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
What would those patriots of 1776 ask us today? Would they not say:
“Have you kept the faith we placed in you? Have you guarded the Republic we bequeathed to you? Or have you allowed the chains of tyranny to creep back upon a free people?”
That spirit — the spirit of Philadelphia in 1776 — built the greatest republic the world has ever known. A Republic, not a pure democracy ruled by fleeting majorities, but a constitutional Republic anchored in law, limited government, individual rights, and moral virtue.
Today, as we look toward America’s 250th anniversary, we must ask ourselves: Will we, in our generation, honor that same pledge? Will we defend liberty against all threats, foreign and domestic? Will we uphold the Constitution, teach our children the true history of our founding, and pass on this inheritance undiminished?
Let this Independence Day renew our commitment. May we stand as worthy heirs of those who pledged their all for freedom.
May God continue to bless the United States of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
