Once again, we continue to give innovation in Canada the stick instead of the carrot.
As an economist, incentive designer, and blockchain engineer, the Canadian government continues to implement and regulate (financial) technology in the worst possible way.
It should be of utmost priority to maintain open standards around incentive design so R&D can flourish and Canada can become a leader in stablecoin engineering and adoption.
The design space for activities beyond transactions is infinite, and restricting experimentation beyond those boundaries is of utmost importance for innovation to take place.
This kind of regulation will continue to cause financiers and engineers to leave the county, while restricting innovative companies from establishing their business in Canada.
It is the exact contribution why we have historically low IPOs, and why trillions of dollars have left this country.
The restrictions defined in this outline should be repealed in favour of an open, research-oriented, regulatory framework to help blockchain based businesses flourish in this country.
Web3, blockchain, and stablecoins in particular have the opportunity to create a massive wave of new financial markets and economical prosperity.
This lack of vision and protectionism needs to end.

Canada has published draft stablecoin rules that would let issuers pay rewards tied to transactions, while treating deals that pay holders through third parties for holding coins as banned yield. Comments are open until Dec. 23.

if you are a Canadian lawyer, economist, or web3 engineer, it's your role to speak up against this
being able to research and design good incentives is at the heart of this technology

BC largest GDP production might come from "whale watching and coffee shops" but the devil is in the details.
The challenge is that we all tend to smooth out statistics and economics instead of digging into the nitty gritty that makes policy development much more complex.
A few details to consider, with (5) and (6) being the most important.
Let's break it down:
(1) Industries aren't mutually exclusive.
(2) Most of this comes from restaurants, accomodations, and transportation.
(3) The majority of this income comes from large centers like Vancouver and Victoria.
(4) 2024 numbers for forestry and other resource industries would be suppressed relative to what they should be
(5) Tourism in these areas is already enormous and often overwhelm local infrastructure during peak season.
(6) Resource refinement and product manufcaturing (I.e. oil) is where there is infinite upside and where Canada continues to export this opportunity instead of capitalizing on it.
Tourism contributes more to BC's GDP than natural resource industries, including forestry and O&G, and the food services industry is one of the largest private employer groups in BC.
The economy already runs on whale watching & coffee shops.

@banteg@GiulioRebuffo Besides raising money and ideological framework I still lose sight of nonprofits vs. for profits that have to continue growing and innovating
got my rookie numbers up and increased my daily oats intake to two cups for an easy and clean 200g carb intake

Like I was telling you @EricDLombardi.
It's not a left, right, liberal, or conservative issue.
It's a Canadian, taxpayer, economical, growth issue, when the majority of Canadians between 20-40 do not feel economically capable of having children, and taxpayers funds are used to support foreign immigration instead of sovereignty and national prosperity.
We need more senior leaders with the guts of @MichelleRempel to speak up about it and have the gumption to make it a national priority.
These PRs are barely starting to count when I know I can blow right past them. In conjunction with @VonStroke and @CrossFit. πͺβ¨

@ABDanielleSmith is called dozens of horrible names, the referendum is accused of foreign interference, and contested for its integrity.
Meanwhile, 10.9 million votes in a province of 5 million.
A 213% voter turnout.
Watch as not a single leftist will speak up against these results, while Canadians continue to seek fairness, objectiveness, transparency, and accountability.
Canada truly is a broken country.

Alberta Election Referendum only had 38% more votes than actual eligible voters.
2.7 million advanced valid votes
I guess whoever Elections Alberta wants to win will win this referendum.
