@ubonanalyst I think this confuses outcome with cause. Running out of cash doesn't automatically prove the biz model=broken. Timing, fundraising environment, macro conditions, and execution all matter. The public evidence isn't enough to conclude structural failure.

If that were the standard, open-source software wouldn't exist. AI models have different risks, but "they might exploit it before we patch it" describes cybersecurity generally, not a unique argument against open weights.

I actually think it’s really fair to want an open ecosystem, and I think it’s fair for folks to be concerned about a small number of labs running away with the game.

You appear to be assuming only the model developer can respond. In reality, if HF identified how the model was exploited, they could patch their serving infrastructure too. The attack vector doesn't necessarily remain just because the weights are open.

If that OAI model that hacked HF were open weight, anyone with a few chips could run it safeguard free! If OAI fixes the alignment, anyone with a few more chips could tune the alignment out!

Yes, anyone can identify vulnerabilities! And if a16z commits to patching every hospital

@RoyalMail is something of a sick joke. 2 different occasions I have canceled everything to stay home for my parcel even with their ridiculous timeline. Each time, they've dispatched an sms (but won't call) saying unable to deliver. That's a scam + waste of people's time!
