@ClarkeMicah @mgmoody42 He didn't go around calling himself a one man think tank either, and didn't believe in the Resurrection merely because the story doesn't make sense if you don't, as you have said. I also rather doubt he said anything like addiction not existing
@CCollated@ZenMezzer@ClarkeMicah@thecoastguy@mrmarkdolan Point 7: 'Widespread application of face coverings as a source control is likely to have a small but significant
impact on population level transmission' - estimated between 7% and 45% - and this is covering ALL kinds of masks including less efficient cloth masks
@yashar That's a very silly non sequitur. A top expert should never be cited even in his specialised field as a result of doing something unethical? Should biologists never cite James Watson too?
@CosmicSkeptic BTW I would like Alex to watch Dennett's contribution to this conference and would wonder if he finds it remotely compelling or satisfying https://t.co/QjTXvpbIaw
@CosmicSkeptic so is it bad for them to be caught by humans rather than eaten by other sea creatures? The fly in the ointment is that taking this view will also encourage more consumption of farmed fish which is terribly bad. A very tough problem
@nicfreeman1209@FraserNelson I agree with you, this is optimism bias wishful thinking stuff, as is the ludicrous suggestion that near 40% of the population have immunity
@archwayword@InCytometry@ClarkeMicah Take it from those of us who've been challenging his deranged nonsense on the drugs question (him totally misunderstanding county lines, 'no safe dose', no addiction particularly), he has his views so dogmatically planted he's not remotely accessible to reason. It's futile
@wn_sharratt @ClarkeMicah There's a fascinating point in this interview with Metaxas at 58:43 where he admits he 'absolutely' believes in the Resurrection because the religion doesn't make sense otherwise. This is how he thinks. Choose the answer you want from the outset. https://t.co/bNy39ALwBz
@mhound5@spectator He's also violently anti-cannabis. There's a huge overlap on that subject with lockdown 'scepticism' interestingly enough - Hitchens, JHB, Gyngell. Also religiosity a big factor
@BenGoldsmith@theAliceRoberts Eat out to help out and Christmas mixing really showed us how eager our politicians were to crush the virus and save lives, didn't it though?
@ClarkeMicah@DavidKnopfler@DaveR11011964 Your arrogance is beyond belief. Listen to Hitchens bashing peer review in another pig-ignorant tirade against David Nutt, an actual highly respected authority in his field https://t.co/KKN3cVxFIW
@keithfrankish Mesmerism is a candidate. A manipulable fluid pervading the universe. The theory might be bunk but they had some phenomenal results - see for example Esdaile's Mesmerism in India - painless major surgery in the 1840s
@Captaintrips74@piersmorgan@SwainITV The numbers on suicides aren't remotely comparable and don't you think they're missing treatments *because* Covid has overwhelmed the NHS? That's why cancer surgeries have been cancelled!
