Was just appointed to serve on @CityofSunnyvale's Bike and Ped Advisory Commission.
Special shoutout to @notjustbikes for opening my eyes and to @AlysaCisneros for the guidance and inspiration!
I will push the city to build walkable, livable neighborhoods. Down with the stroad!
After cars were banned from the Panhandle the road remained for nearly a decade.
Like the former great highway, it’s both an incredible pedestrianized space and there’s more than enough adjacent car capacity.
We’re not going back. Sunset Dunes is here to stay.
@BayAreaClipper@Caltrain Hmmm that's unfortunate.
I'm not sure how many people rely on that type of ticket, but you/@Caltrain may want to broadcast that change more broadly.
I don't see any notification about this within the app and I'd assume only a small percentage of riders will see this tweet.
@CaltrainAlerts Just an FYI this announcement only came through over the speakers at the station and not on the digital displays. I think maybe 75% of people at the station missed the announcement and had to run around the ends of the train as it arrived
@monicamallon The ones with the clock/clock+arrow symbols are searches you've done in the past. They're your personal history of searches. They're not shown to other users (at least, not with the same priority).
.@SFMTA_Muni and @SFBART platforms at capacity with attendants having to do crowd control.
@Caltrain is standing room only at 02:30 am.
There's demand for transit -- really happy seeing free NYE service. Hopefully next year gets even more trains.
Well-planned cities help protect nature and rural areas!
By building denser cities with great transit, we can keep urban growth concentrated, preventing sprawl that converts important agricultural and natural lands.
Missed the @SFBART from SFO -> Millbrae/@Caltrain by 30 seconds, and that's gonna cost me >40 minutes of extra waiting due to service frequency/schedules.
Hard to not just Uber instead even though it will be >$50
You’ll barely notice, but this arterial road is intersected by several side streets.
Rather than sinking humans down into the space of crossing cars, the foot and cycle paths are raised, continuous and prioritized—reducing driver entitlement.
This should be standard everywhere.
The Silicon Valley BART extension will cost $13B for 10km ($1.3B/km)
Milan is building fully automated metro lines for $170M/km, less than 15% the cost vs. the US.
We need to learn from Italy to lower US transit construction costs so we can go on a transit building spree.
Happy to see that VTA is considering re-designing its single bore deep subway to have twin bore and cut & cover sections to have shallower tunnels and stations in order to save time and money.

Double street "closure" today in @SunnyvaleDwtn for the Farmers Market (on Washington) and the Mid-Autumn Festival (on Mathilda).
Amazing pedestrian spaces. No impact to traffic. More of this please. These streets should be permanently closed to cars and _opened_ to people.
