Sir, before asking what future Pakhtunkhwa has, perhaps look honestly at the society you represent.
Have you forgotten Mukhtaran Mai? In 2002, she was gang-raped in Punjab on the orders of a local panchayat, in the name of so-called “honor.” The tragedy was not only the crime itself, but the social system that allowed such brutality to be justified.
And let us not forget the deeply disturbing remarks of your political hero, General Pervez Musharraf, who suggested that women in Pakistan sometimes make allegations of rape to obtain visas and emigrate to the United States or Canada. Imagine what such a statement does to the dignity of survivors.
So please, don’t use one horrific crime in Peshawar to pass judgment on the entire culture and future of Pakhtunkhwa.
Every society has criminals. The real test is whether its institutions confront them, whether its leaders challenge the culture that excuses them, and whether victims receive justice.
Perhaps the first step is to stop using the suffering of women as a political weapon against another province—and start asking what you can do to build a society where no woman is judged, assaulted, or silenced in the name of “honor.”

A medical student is not a political weapon.
Imagine spending years studying, sacrificing everything to become a doctor, reaching the final year—and then being told that your dream ends here because of your nationality. These Afghan students are not responsible for the disputes between governments. They are young people who chose education, medicine, and service. For many Afghan women, returning also means returning to a country where higher education is closed to them. Do not make students the casualties of politics. Let them finish their degrees. Let doctors become doctors. Let education remain a bridge between nations, not another battlefield. This is bigger than Afghanistan or Pakistan. It is about what kind of humanity we choose to uphold.

Resolution Against the Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly and Awami National Party (ANP) MPA Nisar Baz Khan has submitted a resolution in the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against any attempt to divide the province.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a national unit and a federal constituent of the Federation of Pakistan. Centuries of shared history, culture, languages, geography, and common economic interests have shaped this national unit.
The land of present-day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bears the deep imprints of the Gandhara, Greco-Bactrian and Islamic civilizations, whose influence remains visible in the identity, way of life, traditions and values of its people.
As a national unit, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a constituent unit of the Federation of Pakistan. It is a historical and political reality that the federal units collectively constitute the Federation of Pakistan. Even after the fall of Dhaka, the constituent national units, through mutual consent, reaffirmed and reconstituted the Federation through the Constitution of 1973.
Around the world, countries that recognize their national units as federal constituent entities, acknowledge their cultural, historical and linguistic identities, recognize their ownership over their resources, and provide them with the right to autonomous governance have generally achieved greater political and economic stability and continue to progress. Australia, Switzerland, Canada, South Africa, the Federal Republic of Germany and neighboring countries provide examples of such federal arrangements.
Had the 18th Constitutional Amendment been fully implemented in letter and spirit, the situation today would have been entirely different.
An important constitutional point being overlooked in the current debate is that the constitutional structure and social contract of the Federation of Pakistan rests on three fundamental pillars:
First: Democracy
Second: Federalism / Federation
Third: Fundamental Human Rights
Any attempt to undermine or alter any of these pillars would require a new social contract. Such an exercise would be nothing short of a major crisis for the State of Pakistan.
The national unity of Pakhtunkhwa was administratively fragmented into several parts during the colonial period by the British Raj, with the objective of weakening its political strength and ensuring that it posed no challenge to colonial rule. Its mineral resources were exploited, poverty and deprivation were allowed to prevail, and a locally created elite was used to facilitate control over the region. The area was also exploited for strategic purposes, contributing to the perpetuation of a politics and economy of conflict in the region.
After a long political struggle, one part of Pakhtunkhwa was ultimately recognized within the Federation of Pakistan as a federal constituent unit under the name Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, from the very beginning, attempts have continued to undermine its identity, curtail its autonomy and gain control over its resources.
We can state with confidence that the campaign for further division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not being pursued for administrative improvement or good governance, as is being claimed. Rather, it appears to be aimed at reversing the NFC mechanism, undermining the provincial autonomy guaranteed by the 18th Constitutional Amendment, and gaining greater control over the province’s energy, mineral and water resources.
There also appears to be an effort to weaken or erase the historical, civilizational, cultural, linguistic and geographical identities of the constituent nations and regions.
If the proponents of creating additional administrative and federal units are genuinely concerned about better governance, they should first ensure the effective implementation of the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, establish a functional Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) within the provinces to ensure 1/2
Education should never be a political weapon. Afghan students who earned admission and scholarships deserve to complete their studies. PMDC must reverse this unjust decision.
#PakDeniesAfgStudentsRights
This is discrimination, plain and simple.
PM&DC must not punish Afghan students for political tensions. Education is a right, not a weapon. Students already enrolled must be allowed to complete their degrees with dignity and without discrimination.
