I know I've been talking *a lot * about The Broken Sword, but I am so unbelievably proud and honestly moved at the response to my first ever finale
Trying to own that a bit as the concluding book in the Dragon Spirits trilogy hits a milestone: 25 ratings!
It's blowing my mind!
A eulogy to the Hulkster,
Sitting on my couch, I gazed over the rectangular box I’d gotten for my birthday. It was a vault of video treasure. Inside were fourteen VHS tapes of WrestleMania 1-14. Pawing through them, I went straight to one in particular, WrestleMania 5. “THE MEGA POWERS EXPLODE!” It said in bright red font underneath a photo of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage squaring off. Born in the mid 80’s, I’d seen Hulk Hogan a few times on Sunday mornings – but never having cable – I didn’t have the opportunity to watch any of his biggest matches.
Over the summer, I sat glued to the twenty-seven-inch tube TV in my living room while it played every tape in the box, relishing each time Hogan delivered the boot, hit the ropes, and dropped the leg. Pro wrestling fans will claim one of their favorites is larger than life, to the point of becoming a trope. Hulk Hogan actually delivered on that billing. He threw Vince McMahon’s national expansion plans on his back and carried that boulder up every mountain until he ran out of peaks to reach. After being the focal point of nine massive WrestleMania spectacles, he took his talents to Hollywood, where he starred in several movies. Very few were major box office smashes, but they still did quite well in theaters and home video. Mr. Nanny being the most notable.
However, his true calling was always inside a ring, and the first chance he got from a young Eric Bischoff to prove he was Tom Brady to McMahon’s Belichick, he snatched it like the last donut in the box. The move wasn’t without its hiccups, and after a few good bouts with Ric Flair, his run stalled out amid tiresome feuds with predictable endings. Seeing Hulkamania had run its course, he took the biggest risk of his life, turning heel. Whatever trepidation Hulk may have had was mollified when the switch delivered the largest success WCW ever achieved.
I sat in front of my tv after borrowing a tape from my friend who’d recorded an episode of Nitro. It featured the newly minted Hollywood Hogan, leading a pack of villains calling themselves the NWO. Somehow the flag waving, spirited hero had morphed into a conniving cheater who wore all black and flashed gang signs. Hogan understood how to evolve his character better than anyone before him, and executed the new persona expertly during his run atop WCW. His career was not only revitalized, but once again, he took a fledgling company on his back and brought it to the pinnacle. Hulk Hogan made McMahon’s WWF and he’d finally done the same for Ted Turner’s WCW.
Now a sophomore in high school, I scrolled through the websitesite, floored at what I was reading. The NWO were in talks to return to the WWF, and that included – most importantly – Hollywood Hogan. I scrounged up money from my summer job to buy the PPV. Hogan’s return had to be witnessed live. Only a few matches in, he’d become so massively popular that McMahon had to change plans and deliver another championship win for the Hulkster, giving the prodigal son his rightful celebration after returning home. His red and yellow tights back on, he was cemented as a beloved hero once more.
He then proceeded to do the unthinkable, putting over every talent needing a boost and giving back to the emerging stars building their own legacies. Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, The Rock, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar all got wins over him in the coming years. I fortunately got to witness this return tour live in person, sitting in awe as he waged bloody war with his boss, Vince McMahon, in front of 40,000 plus in Seattle’s Safeco Field.
Many pro wrestlers have become cultural icons that achieved massive box office and television success. None did it like Hogan. He played the featured role in not one – but two – pro wrestling booms. He’d been the peak of 80’s WWF, put WrestleMania on the map and carried it to the pinnacle nine times, then went to the competition and grew larger than where he’d been before, beating his former employer. The equivalent of Brady taking the Patriots to six Lombardi’s, before winning one during his first season in Tampa.
Hulk Hogan was known by all as a pro wrestler, but to many he was a living superhero as popular and powerful as Superman or Captain America. His legacy of delivering expertly produced pro wrestling matches and angles brought the sport to the stratosphere, and everyone lacing boots behind him is still trying to catch up.
His legacy will be like his moniker, Immortal.

they fucking did it
they genetically edited mosquitoes so they can’t transmit malaria.
and made the mutation self-replicating.
edited mosquitoes and every descendant can’t infect humans.
Please behold my insanity. Each number is a unique story idea with the corresponding estimated amount of books in each. I have then setup in writing order so once The Hunter of Fareldin is finished I know which project I am starting next. Some have swapped places. @AndresStein05

What a review! I can't find anything to disagree with except maybe Joe could have led with this line.🤣

Fantastic write-up, Joe.

"The Dragonbone Chair is the point where classical epic fantasy meets with the modern, less stereotypical subgenres."

Made a little scrapbook of the Best of 2025 lists that Song of the Damn has made it on
It's kinda staggering and surreal for me to see, to be honest. It feels me with overwhelming gratitude.
Thank you so much to anyone who's checked out SotD!
Just finished Whispers of the Storm by @ZB_Steele and what a hell of a ride! It handles some heavy themes and has converted me to liking more "descent into darkness" stories! A great piece of indie fantasy!
