In a few years the national debt will be $50 trillion. If by then we pay 8% interest, the annual bill will be $4 trillion, and annual budget deficits will likely be $6 trillion. How will we pay for that? Triple the income tax? Eliminate all entitlements and most federal programs?
Stallone didn’t want to do Over the Top, but Cannon kept raising the offer til it hit $12M; you could say they twisted his arm.
It’s loosely based on a real story: John Brzenk won a truck in an arm-wrestling contest, then traded it for a Corvette. OTT even landed a toy deal. 🤣
Gene Hackman punched Denzel Washington for real while filming Crimson Tide.
He insisted it was unintentional, but admitted it made the on-set atmosphere tense between the two men. Tony Scott leaned into it to heighten the antagonism.
Denzel still praised Gene: “he’s a master.”
AMAZON LAUNCHES ALWAYS-ON AI AGENTS FOR THIRD-PARTY SELLERS
$AMZN is upgrading Seller Assistant with “workflows” that can continuously monitor and act on pricing, inventory, listings and account health, even when a seller isn’t logged in.
Sellers can describe a task in plain English, set guardrails, and let the agent run in the background. It can flag rating drops, adjust pricing, refresh listings or prepare restock plans, with approval controls and full audit trails.
Amazon is also launching a Seller Assistant plugin for Amazon Quick and Anthropic’s Claude, letting sellers bring their Amazon sales, inventory and performance data into the AI tools they already use and take actions from there.
Amazon says Seller Assistant already reaches 90%+ of its selling partners globally, with sellers accepting its recommendations more than 90% of the time.
$AMZN is rolling out a Claude-powered Seller Assistant that can monitor and act on pricing, inventory, ads and compliance 24/7.
Its already live for 90%+ of sellers globally with recommendations accepted over 90% of the time pushing agents into actual marketplace operations.
Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s when millions of immigrants flooded our shores, no paperwork was required to immigrate. No passports, visas, or work permits. Anyone who could afford a ticket could board a ship, arrive in America, answer a few basic questions, and be on their way.
They could stay as long as they wanted, work wherever they wanted, buy property, start businesses, and basically do anything any American citizen could do. In fact, in most states, they could legally vote in local, state, and even national elections, subject to the same poll tax, literacy test, or other qualifications required of American citizens.
If they wanted to naturalize, they just needed to register their intent and were given seven years to complete the paperwork necessary to become American citizens, which millions of immigrants were proud to do.
Things began to change in the 1930s with the advent of social security numbers, and then more so with the Alien Registration Act of 1940, signed into law as a WWII security measure. When the war ended, instead of being repealed, in 1946 it evolved into what we now call Green Cards.
In effect, we had completely open borders and the country thrived. In fact, during the decades we now call the Gilded Age—the high-growth period that Donald Trump claims he wants to emulate—our borders were wide open. The reason this worked so well is that we had no welfare state. People came to America for freedom and opportunity only. They came to contribute to our economy, not live off it. They did not drain our resources; they added to them.
The lesson is that immigration is not the problem. The problem is the welfare state. Shut off that magnet and America will no longer attract people looking for free stuff. In fact, we need to turn off that magnet for everyone, so those who are looking for free stuff will leave to seek it out someplace else.
Someone once stopped me as I was stepping out of my Lambo
“How many starving people could you have fed with the money you spent on that?”
I told him the truth:
“I don't know. But it fed the 1,800 families of the people who built it.
It fed the designers. The carbon-fiber suppliers. The tyre manufacturers. The 300 technicians who spent hundreds of hours hand-crafting this machine with pride.”
That’s the difference. Socialism demands you divide the pie
Capitalism pays people to bake a bigger one
Do you understand?
@Millie__Weaver There are no tariff profits to dividend out. The U.S. is currently running annual budget deficits well in excess of $2 trillion. All the tariff revenue can from American taxpayers. The $21 trillion number is a complete lie. Just like most of what Trump says.
Trump claims he's made America so much money that the government can afford to pay every adult American a $5,000 "dividend." But during the 20 months he's been in office, our national debt has grown by almost $4 trillion. How do you declare a dividend when you've lost that much?
Abraham Lincoln stood about 6’4” (193 cm), and when wearing his signature hat, he was nearly 7 feet tall. He was also reportedly very self-conscious about the unusually large size of his hands.
Lincoln’s height was particularly remarkable for the mid-1800s, when the average American man stood around 5’8” (173 cm).
Standing 6’4” (193 cm), Lincoln was noticeably taller than most people around him. His long arms and legs, large hands and feet, and lean, muscular build were shaped in part by years of farm work, rail splitting, and other demanding physical labor.
As a young man, Lincoln was also known as a skilled wrestler. His well-known 1831 match against Jack Armstrong helped build his reputation in New Salem, Illinois. He was reportedly an exceptional competitor, with a record often cited as roughly 300 wins and only one loss.
Josh Brown removed every tech company from the S&P 500 to see what was really driving the market: “even without tech, you’re looking at 28.3% earnings growth. add tech back and it becomes 32%. that’s outrageous”
this is him explaining why the bearish narratives surrounding this market keep losing money, why comparing today’s valuation multiples with those from decades ago makes no sense, and what the executives running these companies survived to reach this point
“ten of the eleven sectors are seeing profit growth. the stories that it’s all AI, that the market is too narrow or too concentrated - throw them all in the garbage. they’re money-losing narratives”
“net income margins were revised from 15% to 15.6%. sales growth is 15.2% - more than 300 basis points above what analysts expected just two months ago”
“is 20 times earnings cheap? no. but why should it trade lower? why should this group of companies trade at 16 times earnings just because that was the multiple in 1994? it makes no sense - these are the Michael Jordans of every sector”
“they survived record inflation, the pandemic, an impossible hiring environment and then the tariff uncertainty - the people running these companies are absolute warriors”

Trump claims the U.S. should have the lowest interest rates in the world, like “the old days.” But in the old days the U.S. was a creditor nation, had balanced budgets, a smaller federal government, trade surpluses, a low national debt, high savings, and was on the gold standard.
Hungary is deeply concerned by the growing number and intensity of Russian hybrid activities on European soil. Recent incidents in Germany demonstrate an increasingly dangerous and reckless pattern of behaviour that poses a serious threat to European security and resilience.
Hungary stands in full solidarity with Germany and is ready to support our partner in countering hybrid threats. In the face of these challenges, strengthening the resilience, unity and collective preparedness of the European Union and NATO is more important than ever.
Dolly spent her whole life showing us what it means to lead with love. Lauren and I are so grateful to have known her. She lifted everyone with her music, her generosity, and her joy. Sending our sincere condolences to her family and everyone she touched.
I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.
