Great to present some research findings on sugar consumption, commodities and ideas about ‘choice’ in Scotland at #EASA2024 conference @UniBarcelona, hear about new research going on @EasaFood and reflect on futures of food anthropology together! #sugar#food@Understand_CDoH
Enjoyed this exploratory workshop w/ @TessDavisPsy on smell, place and relationships. We discuss how people smell the City of Edinburgh, including deep-fried smells, vapes, and scents of gentrification... Part of @xuelei_huang's 'Smells of Scotland' @FRIEDinburgh@EdinburghUni
"What does Edinburgh smell like?" - check out our newest blog post by @ImogenBevan@TessDavisPsy now available on the Smell Studies Blog.

COVID testing in #UnitedKingdom is as much for the protection of the self as for others. @ImogenBevan@LindaBauld & Street examine how testing is a relational technology, engendering an understanding of interpersonal and public scales of responsibility.

🔊 New paper led by our brilliant Rosemary Hiscock that seeks to map the tobacco supply chain 🍃 🏭 showing #BigTobacco's 🌎 reach and how there's a link with interference.
Also wondering how similar it'd look for industries like alcohol and food... #CDoH https://t.co/rtti0IPs5t
Oh, and would also love to hear any favourite #Covid#Anthro#ethnography literature on relationships and technologies too. So far I have collated some very interesting research on testing, mask wearing, and epidemiological reasoning...
Hello #Anthro friends 👋, any recommendations on literature on protecting others (loved ones/strangers) during previous/ongoing epidemics? And particularly any epidemic technologies of care? Thank you! #anthrotwitter#ethnography@EdinburghUni@DiaDev_Research
So far have found lots of super interesting research on HIV testing/condoms depending on levels of intimacy, and use of face masks pre-covid - would love to chat with anyone interested in similar topics 👍

Findings:
👉Testing for #COVID19 is experienced as a civic duty & moral duty.
👉BUT, #covid testing can place a hidden social, economic and practical 'burden' on the individual.
👉Testing is a 'social process' shaped by people's relationships and different ethical considerations.
