@Aella_Girl I feel you BUT, skyscraper structural safety isn’t unknowingly trained to differentiate between safety of whites or blacks.
That being said, it’s not a competition. Existential risk is an emergency, provided solutions are being found for both.
The difference between education and indoctrination is that the former empowers you to seek the truth, recognise it when untruths are abundant, helps you to consider ideas you didn’t previously believe in when exposed to them & comfortably change your mind.
@agazdecki@a16z What happened to Jessica is a reality for many womxn. Calling out abusive behaviours rarely results in justice. It leads to ostracism, diluting experiences or questioning credibility. Ironic as it is, *men* need to band together and form a critical mass to stop these practices.
Changing your @netflix password is the new keeping your ex’s book post breakups (friend b/u included). Millennial me still thinks keeping books is worse. My 1st edition Harry Potters available only at select stores bought after standing in 2 hour long lines can never replaced.
Petition to Laxman Narasimhan: 1st order of business at @Starbucks NEEDS to be renaming “Chai Tea Latte” to “Chai” or “Tea Latte”. Tea lovers over the world have been saying “Tea Tea Latte” for too long.
To be human is to err. You may be angry in a situation you chose. Releasing this anger isn’t the same as expressing it. The former destroys bonds. The latter is an opportunity to share your values with another & to walk away if the ones you hold dear aren’t reciprocated. n/n
Emotional intelligence is a truly underrated skill. Anger, irritation, frustration, sadness however unpleasant to feel tell us what we need. They’re clues that guide us to our values, what we should choose and what we should lose. 1/n
One of the easiest tools to regulate emotions (not referring people w/disabilities) is to choose your words, actions, people, situations and thoughts. Choose what you need, and your emotions will follow. 2/n
Dumbing yourself down to make sense to others, or changing to fit in is a disservice. (Not to be mixed with growth). Being your authentic self, voicing your opinions, being an intentional actor to achieve your vision makes you a beacon for people & purposes aligned with you.
Unpopular opinion: first impressions, 280 characters, movie trailers, 1 hour interviews - any form of glittery “packaging” basically - not enough to judge quality of expertise, character or product. Trade off: handful & definite time saved vs indefinite/exponential time guzzled.
@paraschopra@sandeepjethwani You can set up a company that is solving for colonising Mars & spend billions on “Plan B” while the poor & at-risk don’t have food, housing, clothing, safety.
I’ve worked long hrs. Only person in ofc on NYE, 3 yrs in a row. Expected this during deadlines. Also taken sabbaticals, long lunches & encouraged my team to switch off for well-being. Humans don’t clockwork. Our productivity has a flow. Ride it’s high, plan & practice when low.
@championswimmer The spirit here is telling them to build an ecosystem of support and if it exists ask them for help. For the people who believe they have to go at it alone, this would be a great story. (2/2)
@championswimmer No one should take posts on SM literally as life/professional advice, like a cookie cutter. At best, the essence (not the specifics) needs to be contextualised to your life. Worst case - the spirit is misunderstood & you ignore your kids’ health. (cont.)
