Proud to see a vision I initiated in 2019 come to fruition in 2026 with the launch of Somalia’s Crop-Based Agricultural Training Manuals.
This initiative was driven by the need to establish a standardized national training resource that strengthens agricultural extension services and provides consistent, practical guidance for farmers and extension professionals across Somalia.
I extend my sincere appreciation to Director Abdirashid for advancing this initiative, Director Amina for successfully bringing it to completion, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, SomReP, the European Union (EU), Somali National University, and all partners whose commitment and contributions made this achievement possible.
This marks a major milestone for agricultural extension, farmer capacity development, and food security in Somalia. Together, let us continue building a more resilient, productive, and food-secure future.

Productive meeting with Ruth Situma, Head of Nutrition at UNICEF Somalia, to discuss a new chapter of collaboration between UNICEF and the Food Security & Nutrition Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MoAI).
Together, we identified key areas of cooperation to advance nutrition_sensitive agriculture, resilient food systems, dietary diversity, food safety, post-harvest loss reduction, and sustainable solutions that improve food security and nutrition outcomes across Somalia, this partnership will support our community and makes more resilient ,improved nutrition for Somali children, women, and families.
