After reviewing 300+ UPSC aspirants, one pattern is undeniable:

The "buy every standard book" era is over.
Toppers now follow a brutal principle:
Less is more. Way more.

Here's what changed:
Earlier (2015–2020):
→ Laxmikant + M. Laxmikanth Objective + Chronicle + Vision IAS notes + Coaching material
→ Spectrum + Bipin Chandra + Old NCERTs + Nitin Singhania + Class notes
→ Result: 5,000 pages per subject, zero revisions

Now (2023–2026):
→ ONE standard book per subject
→ Self-made notes (50–70 pages max per subject)
→ Multiple revisions (5–7 times before exam)
→ Result: 500 pages total, complete retention

The shift:
From "collecting resources" to "mastering fewer resources."

Here's the math:
5,000 pages × 1 revision = 5,000 pages covered, 30% retained
500 pages × 5 revisions = 2,500 pages covered, 85% retained

Less coverage. More retention. Better results.
Most aspirants are still hoarding PDFs.
While rank holders are revising 50-page notes for the 6th time.

Supreme Court has strongly opposed the long-standing practice of appointing temporary police chiefs, calling it "unacceptable".

The ruling comes as a major development for three senior IPS officers in Tamil Nadu, whose regular appointments as Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force (HoPF) have been delayed since September 2025, leaving the state without a permanent head of police.

With Assembly elections scheduled for March–April, maintaining political neutrality in the police force becomes very important.

The absence of a permanent DGP could raise concerns about the fairness and transparency of the elections. A prompt appointment from the UPSC-recommended panel is essential.
