It’s pretty simple issue. The crew is telling the passengers that the plane is not operable due to a fuel leak & staff shortage. Are you going to make passengers sleep on the floor or a hotel?

@AmericanAir This isn’t a weather related issue. @AmericanAir personnel just disclosed to passengers that there is a fuel leak on the aircraft and de-boarded. They also said they are facing a staffing shortage. Despite this, they are refusing to put passengers up in hotels. @SecretaryPete

This story is a perfect example of #spinflation / supply chain overhype reporting. The supplier in this story isn’t even experiencing a shortage and the is increasing prices by $10 for trees 10 ft. or larger. So basically the ones too big for your house.
