Russia “gets to” for the same reason Bush gets to invade Iraq or Trump gets to attack Iran. Because he can. That doesn’t make it right.

The argument isn’t about who “gets to”, it’s more like “why the hell should we.” NATO expansion all but guaranteed this showdown and that was incredibly stupid and reckless.
