I am an electronics engineer (MSEE UC Berkeley '72) and have seen the evolution of Silicon Valley for 50+ years. The lawyers and politicians in Washington DC have been promoting policies that make it easy for anyone with ties to Wall Street to take over any industry that is showing significant profits and they have been handsomely rewarded through insider trading. Most engineers would like to create technologies that benefit everyone but they have very little power to do so.
