@AnkitaK91781999 It’s frustrating to see how much of our day is consumed by the daily commute. Wouldn’t life be better if work was closer to home? Platforms like InRadius can help with that.
@chiragbarjatya So true! It’s a stark reality. While some enjoy the open roads, so many others are squeezed into locals daily. Maybe it’s worth thinking about how we can spend less time traveling and more time living.
@sharsh1187@mybmc@MTPHereToHelp@RoadsOfMumbai We are trying to do our bit by helping people find jobs closer to their homes and hope that this may result in some reduction in the ever increasing traffic jams across Mumbai.
@MTPHereToHelp@MehtaKairavi How about helping Mumbaikar's find jobs closer to their homes so the ever increasing load on our public infrastructure can be reduced :)
The 1.5 hour long commute back to Faridabad kills a few happiness cells inside my system. The commute, a perpetual reminder that you're not as free as you would like to be.
Fuck podcasts. Fuck music. Fuck taking long breaths and tuning into yourself. It all goes down in shambles when you realise you're transporting yourself to different buildings in different places all your working life.
Sitting in the car in a low humdrum of fight or flight, you learn to text on the fly, change the music, and fill every waking driving minute with activity that distracts you from the permanence of Delhi traffic. The traffic, a sobering reminder that your big city dreams still have dirty splotches of traffic, pollution, and a special hostility trademark to NCR but whose roots were first discovered in Delhi.
I guarantee you almost all day drivers in Delhi have underdeveloped scapular muscles and minor scoliosis. And then there are the beedis, the cigarettes, the masala, the pan, the fiddling with your phone at every traffic light, the age-old Indian tradition of long and lingering conversations with old friends to gossip and pass the time thanks to Bluetooth phone calls.
Sitting is such a fucking disease that sometimes I want nothing more than a personal knot assistant whose job is to destroy all knots in my back, my glutes, and neck. I am convinced you can't have sexy glutes if you're sitting on them all day. The roundness is replaced by that patch of cellulite where the lack of muscle just congregates in skin that looks disgusting to the eyes.
Every time I'm stuck in a seat, I can think of those pull-up bars I ignored because they were all around me. This is when my flights of fancy know no bounds and I invent flying suits in my head.
Anyway, I drive over to Khan Market and just prefer to finish work, listen to the excellent curation of music at Blue Tokai, sip on some hot chocolate because it's too late for caffeine, check my body from falling too much on the right, and finally, bide my time till the commute time drops to 40 minutes.
