Insect Biomechanics group @CamZoology @Cambridge_Uni with Prof. Federle ๐ชฐ๐ชด๐ฆ๐The mechanics of plant-insect interactions and other cool insect phenomena.
Happy to share the discovery of a new insect-plant interaction from Borneo, where one ant-plant has evolved sharp hooked trichomes to pierce and kill lycaenid caterpillars. However, one specialist can survive and has a counter-defence!

โTwas the night before the inaugural UK Plant Biomechanics Day, and all through the lab not a creature was stirring...
Excited for new ideas, new collaborations & inspiration from invited speakers @MechEcoLab & @MCNDLab!
Launching the new @UKPlantBiomech community

Automated behavioural analysis using machine learning is great, but still needs lots of effort to curate training data. What if a computer could generate that data for you? Say hello to replicAnt https://t.co/LtCipnE59E #OpenSource

How does a panda chew food? Pretty easy to imagine, right? But what about insects? How do they use their mandibles to bite and cut? Our latest paper (https://t.co/UCA0BhJ7WT) dived into the nitty gritty of insect mandible motion - a ๐งต...#biomechanics#mandibles#joints#insects
