@mattvanswol I live in a rural community and it’s still like that. We call the sheriff when we find a strange cow in our pasture 🤷🏼♀️.
But I did grow up (in a different place) at a time of “be back by dinner”, and it was NOT necessarily “safe.” In a million ways, but especially for girls.
@homegymcoop I had two, and it was a massive struggle financially, most of the time. I have no idea how most people manage it, especially today. When I was little, middle-class parents *could* afford a livable house, braces, medical, school/sport supplies, food/electricity/water bills etc.
@Milajoy This helps the millions of Americans struggling today how? How does this (or any of the vanity projects) bring “happiness” to nearly everyone else in the country except a fortunate few who get to enjoy the view. Which does not feed our kids or put fuel in our car.
@McJuggerNuggets This decision should be viewed from a context of U.S. healthcare. Current admin is not known for thinking government should “help”, and says healthcare is not a right in the U.S. THAT (and unaffordable premiums/threats to SS/medicaid, etc.) would weigh on ME in this scenario.
@MattWalshBlog Time to create a bingo card for all the tired (typically fictional) stories we know he’ll repeat for the 250th time. And to those saying that the artists backing out were all “washed up nobody cares”, well… they are who the admin invited 🤷🏼♀️
@LisaBritton The U.S. Secretary of war reposted and praised a video calling for repealing a woman’s right to vote. Nobody in government is considering revoking a man’s right to vote. We’re nowhere near equal power today. (That said, I don’t like this merch, but I understand why it exists).
@funtomvids Has anyone ever seen him run? Or slowly jog? In the past 30 years? Has he done ANY cardio? With his awful diet, poor sleep (posting all night), and zero useful exercise (golf carts don’t count), I’m amazed he’s made it this long.
@RonFilipkowski If he’d just first asked Congress instead of ignoring laws, they’d probably have agreed to everything he wanted. THEN. Today, though, he’s lost some sway. He missed the window for getting absolutely everything he wants from Congress.
@ibgeekme@NotHoodlum While boxing is statistically a little less dangerous, the point of celebrating our country’s 250 by watching men beat themselves bloody is an odd choice, showcasing violence at a time of crisis😒. Not the most optimistic, uniting metaphor.
The U.S. is spending $5 million to renovate and gold-cover 4 horse statues. If they’re going to spend all this on horses, I wish it could be on the adoption of 5000 living, breathing wild/feral mustangs rounded up by BLM. (5 million would ensure a good chance for 5000).
@delbigtree I really really wish this was more common in the U.S. I live in a rural ag community of small acreage farms, and we had to sink way too much money into equipment we use only a few weeks each year. (No rentals are available here for things like hay cutting and baling).
@CrazyVibes_1 My husband and I still ask ourselves daily, “how are we even alive?” after all the dangerous unsupervised feral and awesome things we did as kids. And there were also risky family vacations of back country camping, with no way of communicating for help if you were injured.
@therightfrankd When I was little, people with big families had station wagons and there were no laws for car seats and seat belts, so they just crammed them all in. That’s not possible now. Just one of a zillion things I wonder about now when I see big families…
@FrankCReid@JamesMac_Fit But software (and hardware) when your kids were growing up was not engineered to be addictive. Social media companies now hire behavioral science phds to tweak algorithms for max “engagement.” It’s not the screens/devices that are harmful, but the apps.
Last night was my first horse “workout” after their long break.. I use CLA to do virtually everything. Task: keep track of human with a target. Env: 100-meter track, corners afford accelerating to catch up when the human cuts the corner. We don’t use whips, ever. We use nature.
@dalepartridge If your daughter is attacked, I guarantee you’ll wish she’d had more self-defense skills. Or be grateful for those martial arts classes you enrolled her in. You cannot possibly ensure every moment of her life is supervised by “strong good men”, but you can give her skills.
@KarlApexFit With grip strength being a *proxy*, then directly training for grip strength is a bad idea. (Goodhart’s law suggests it becomes a useless proxy if it is a target goal). Instead, we should train such that grip strength is just an authentic side-effect, not because we trained it.
@fire_starter457 there’s no context in which this statement is ok. The notion of him NOT THINKING of *his* citizens because all that matters is [nuclear weapon his intelligence agency said was not a threat] is the problem. Same reason he gave for saying “we can’t do daycare, Medicare, etc.”
@HistoryBoutique@mattvanswol He posts opinions constantly, with emotional over generalizations. When he says “The left wants me dead” “The left wants to kill all conservatives.” “Democrats hate Christians,” Those are his opinions. Matt is a master of logical fallacies, but with *some* uncomfortable facts.
