PREPARATION eliminates mistakes ‼️🙌⚾️
For hitters that lose the barrel and work underneath, stop at contacts are great for feeling bracing. It helps the hitters remove slack so the barrel can win the race out front. I highly recommend it, as it will shorten swings really quickly.
Before good teams can become great teams, they have to win the 'race to maturity'.
"Maturity is when doing what you have to do becomes what you want to do." @Coach_Fleck
Adrian Gonzalez working & grooming his swing for what will work in the game. Not trying to create crazy exit velocity or hit the ball hard in practice. But creating an efficient swing that will work in the game. Short , inside, through the middle of the field/pitcher. Great stuff.

🚨 Matt Chapman Advice - Part 2
1. Always keep your wrists loose & adjustable
2. Keep your feet moving - don't be a statue
3. Secure the ball first, then make the throw
⭐️Errors happen when we rush the transition from catch to throw. Slow down & trust your arm strength.
Jalen Brunson said, "The one thing that separates great players from good players is their detail."
"They take pride in watching film, watching what they eat, and making sure they're in the best shape of their life. Just to get that edge."
Little details make big differences!
Receiving Drills Focused on the Strike Zone with @CharlotteBSB's @TSimmons_
"For our catchers, the first thing is understanding the strike zone...We want our guys to lose the idea of the strike zone being a box."

Hitters: Your at-bat starts WAY before you get in the box (really it starts the night before with you prioritizing sleep).
- Let’s start with while on deck. Here you should act like you’re in the box and really be intentional with your breath, focus, and timing.
- When walking to the plate, it doesn’t matter if you’re 10 for your last 15 or 0 for your last 15, carry the bat with the barrel and walk up to the plate with big, powerful body language.
- Have a set pre-pitch routine that you do every single pitch. The 10-15 seconds in between pitches are more important than the pitch itself, and a pre-pitch routine is how you win that time. Taking control of your breath and self-talk is HUGE here.
Do all of this on a consistent basis and I guarantee you will have way more quality at-bats.
So much mental game gold here from Scottie Scheffler after winning The Masters. My takeaways:
1. Preparation builds confidence. Want to go into anything feeling more confident? Know deep down that you prepared as best as you possibly could.
Having a personal ‘Checklist for Success’ of the things you do that are 100% in your control that leads to the best you showing up is huge here.
2. Process over Outcome mentality. When we are ruthlessly focused on our process (the action steps that are in control), the outcomes we want (not totally in our control) come our way as a by-product, especially in the long run.
3. Feeling nervousness, anxiety, fear, etc., is normal when competing. All athletes experience those emotions, especially in big moments. The best of the best have learned how to use those emotions to enhance their performance, rather than be held by back them.
When you combine all of that, you allow yourself to find out how good you can be and you more and more consistently show up at your best, when it matters most.
Scottie being the best in the world is not on accident. It’s clear that he’s very intentional and on purpose with how he approaches the mental side of the game.
When are you starting your load?
—Most of the games best hitters start there load & get into a ready position to hit before the ball leaves the pitchers hand.
—Starting your load when the pitchers hand breaks is a good cue to go off of. Every single pitcher has to do this to throw the ball. Once there hand breaks every pitchers time to plate is close in timing. Giving you a consistent time to start.
—Being on time towards the opposite field gap or through the middle for fastball. Gives you a chance to do damage on both pitches. The FB & Off speed. When you get into your advantage counts & have earned your fastball. 2-0, 3-0, 3-1. You can now then shift your sights over towards the pull side gap.
—Hope this helps some people!

🚨 Curtis Granderson’s Swing Adjustment
• By trying to create “good rhythm” he created a swing that had too many moving parts.
• Simplified his hand movement so that he could be on time more consistently.
⭐️ Simple. Smooth. Compact.
Why velocity plateaus happen and your problems aren’t going away
Problems happen for a reason. What’s the reason
You can’t separate?
Your arm is late?
You fly open early?
Problems happen at landing
Reasons happen before
Derek Johnson taught me something very important about bullpens.
You are either over the rubber or over the plate.
But you can't be both.
Let me explain how it works:
(Like and bookmark for later)
⚡️Smooth 1st Move⚡️
✔️ Muscling up at the plate can cause hitters to miss-hit pitches and become undisciplined due to its disruptive impact on timing and control.
✔️ When hitters focus solely on generating power through forceful swings, they often lose the finesse needed to make precise contact with the ball. This can result in…
✖️Mistimed Swings
✖️Weak Contact
✖️Pop-Ups
✖️Downright Misses
✔️ Additionally, the heightened tension and anxiety associated with muscling up can lead to impulsive decision-making and a lack of plate discipline.
✔️ Hitters may be more prone to swinging at pitches outside the strike zone or chasing pitches they would otherwise let pass, diminishing their ability to consistent at the plate.
✔️ Prioritizing relaxation, timing, and discipline over brute force allows hitters to maintain control and make better decisions at the plate, ultimately leading to more success and consistency in their performance.
