@SianHerfield@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren Wait, so you’re calling them male because of their male secondary sex characteristics— when radfems commonly classify Caster Semanya, a woman with XY chromosomes, as male DESPITE her secondary sex characteristics?
Truth nuke. Don’t call anyone anything they don’t want to be called regardless of whether it’s gendered or not— but also it is genuinely an accident sometimes. I did this because I didn’t check someones profile and she hit me with the
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren Have anything to do with transgender people, it is absurdly fallacious to point at a few cases (of which I’m sure you have so much more🙄) and say it is representative of the community and not, you know, people that would commit that crime regardless. This is selection bias.
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren I genuinely don’t know why everyone is stuck on the changing room stuff. Many girls are uncomfortable changing in front of people no matter the gender which is why accommodations for privacy are given by the district, such as stalls. None of these articles—
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren Media highlights controversial stories, so the fact that you’ve found a handful of news articles and screenshots about transgender people also does not for certain allow us to draw any conclusions— so what evidence do you have that trans policies, as opposed to actions of—
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren Intersex conditions are classified in relation to male and female development. These supposed “male advantages” can occur even in individuals with XX chromosomes that have significant hormonal issues. Intersex conditions are evidence that a chromosome-only model doesn’t work.
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren But it doesn’t is my point. Biologists themselves would tell you that sex isn’t just chromosomes but a collection of traits. If chromosomes were the only thing that mattered for sex, many medical practices and tests would no longer make sense. Chromosomes =/= anatomy.
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren And not to mention the fact that your framing presupposes that trans women are men which is literally the point under dispute rn. You can’t use your conclusion as your premise lol
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren TERF theory is a sub shoot of radical feminism which was NEVER inherently transphobic. Andrea Dworkin who TERFs worship was trans-inclusive in her writings. You can’t say “what came first” because trans people, and third gender categories, have existed before modern feminism.
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren I also wanted to come back to your argument about violence. If TRAs are anyone that supports trans rights, and are supposedly doing what you mentioned— what do you think of the STRUCTURAL! VIOLENCE! being codified into state and federal legislation by transphobic politicians?
@molecule_m@rinserepeatie@NmaryamH@radfemsiren 95% of the discourse I saw was in some way connected to exclusion, be it trying to define woman in a way that includes all biological women but excludes all trans women and even some intersex women (how is that working out by the way?), or justifying preexisting bigotry.
@kaorinboom just because they’re social constructs doesn’t mean they share the same structure, time is also a social construct but you don’t see anyone saying they are transchronological or whatever
