How do you tell everyone to stop everything and go home and yet still keep some essential services running… I applaud HK for being able to do this countless of times during typhoon season!
I really admire the people working at the HKO. It's so difficult and exciting and their work affects so many people. And it's really moment by moment monitoring from so much time in advance. And now, moment by moment, the typhoon's each move affects the potential next move. Wow!
For super typhoon preparedness, Shenzhen.
The #Ragasa, Category 5, the strongest storms ever recorded, is about to hit the area of southeastern China, including Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
I would like to think that it's not that hard to add a little bit of good into this world. And all of us can in our own little and unique ways make where we are a little bit better.
“Everybody is bracing for super typhoon Ragasa that is approaching 🇭🇰and 🇲🇴, including us at the EU Office to 🇭🇰 and 🇲🇴. We have full trust in the professionalism and commitment of local authorities and frontline workers. " (1/2)
Don't be afraid when things get wiped out at the supermarkets, notice there are also a lot of stuff that remain and it's your chance to try something new! :) Or be creative about your diets!
This is what it looks like when you survive the first half. You get this weird, false peace. You walk out into the daylight and see your world turned upside down. Your roof is in the yard, the trees are naked, and it's all about to start again from the other direction. #Ragasa
🌪️ Category 5 Typhoon RAGASA-25 (Nando), the strongest storm in the world this year, showed its perfect eye as it passed over Calayan Island.
👉 Winds peaked at 269 km/h (165+ mph) after rapid intensification, unleashing torrential rain and destructive gusts across northern Luzon.
⚠️ Nearly 10 million people are within reach of hurricane-force winds, with thousands already evacuated in the Philippines. Storm surge warnings up to 3 meters remain in place, while Hong Kong, Taiwan & southern China prepare for impact.
Even without direct landfall, outer bands are bringing flooding, landslides & life-threatening conditions.
A reminder of how fast today’s warming oceans can supercharge storms. 🌏

Why do some people think that by putting someone down it might motivate them to become better, might it not have the opposite effect that they would get discouraged and give up?
