In 3 weeks in #DRC, I witnessed the #Ebola response take hold, as @WHO supports the government-led response.
Despite challenges, I saw solidarity, survival, leadership & expertise. Together, this outbreak will be brought under control and then ended.
Our staff in #Gaza were searched and detained. Their housing attacked. Our warehouse destroyed.
We cannot support the health system under these conditions. Health and those who deliver it must be protected.
Busy day at @WHOEMRO#EMRORC71 as Rick Brennan, Emergency Director for @WHOEMRO, & @Dr_HamidJafari reported on the hard work @WHO colleagues are doing in Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan as well as work to develop capacity in our Member States.
As @DrTedros says - No health without peace
Food for thought this morning...
A WHO photographer in Gaza: "There’s just an overwhelming need for peace’ (...) I’ve been working in the humanitarian field for 30 years – but this felt like a life-changing experience."

We can oppose anti-semitism, call for a #FreePalestine and feel empathy for Israeli people AND Palestinians.
Are you informed about 75 years of occupation of Palestinian terr.?
Read this piece by UN Rapporteur on Palestinian terr. & Follow: Jewish Voice for Peace
@jvplive
URGENT- Mass forced displacement of Palestinians has occurred in 1947/49 and 1967, and continued ever since, in less visible but not less painful forms. This time it risks to be as cruel as ever, under our watch, with some member states even risking to enable it. #CeasefireNow.
The health situation in north Gaza is dire:
1) attacks on health care are causing additional deaths and injuries
2) evacuation orders by Israel to hospitals are practically impossible to implement and are a death sentence for the sick and injured. Health workers are staying by their patients’ sides.
@WHO calls on Israel to protect health facilities, health workers, patients, and civilians, and to immediately reverse evacuation orders to hospitals.
Can u believe? Berlin authorities prohibit demo organized by jewish Berliners titled "Jewish Berliners against violence in the Middle East - Against the murder of our fellow human beings in Gaza, Jewish and Palestinian people have the same right to live" ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS.

🔴BREAKING:
Israel has given Al Awda Hospital just two hours to evacuate. Our staff are still treating patients.
We unequivocally condemn this action, the continued indiscriminate bloodshed and attacks on health care in Gaza.
We are trying to protect our staff and patients.
Indiscriminate attacks on civilians by Hamas & Israeli Defence Forces amount to #WarCrimes: UN experts urge de-escalation of hostilities, humanitarian corridor for civilians out of #Gaza, solution to address root of conflict & end #Israel’s occupation.

I look forward to the same declaration by President @vonderleyen on Israel's cutting of electricity, water and food in Gaza.
If not, people could think that European institutions do not value the protection of Palestinian children, women and men as much as that of Ukranians.
The humanitarian situation in #Gaza: without power, a full blackout is imminent.
“Hospitals are going to be turned into graveyards.”

#219a is trending in Germany: Another doctor is in court for information on safe & lawful abortion on his practice website. Enough! We want abortion information: out of the criminal code, a pregnant person's & doc’s right, accessible as part of quality health care. @ippf@ippfen
