Science Over Soundbites: MHRA Confirms Paracetamol Is Safe in Pregnancy — Despite Trump’s Claims
When it comes to the health of mothers and babies, we must listen to science, not soundbites.
This week, the MHRA reaffirmed that paracetamol is safe to use during pregnancy, and there is no evidence it causes autism in children. This clear, evidence-based guidance matters deeply for expectant parents, who deserve reassurance grounded in rigorous research rather than fear stirred by ill-informed political statements.
Health advice should always come from experts in the field, not from politicians making sweeping claims without scientific basis. Following the science keeps mothers and babies safe. Following populist rhetoric risks sowing unnecessary anxiety and mistrust.
At a time when misinformation spreads faster than facts, it has never been more important to put evidence first — and to trust those who dedicate their lives to protecting maternal and fetal health.

Excited to share my new editorial in @balkanmedj : “Statistical Rigor and Reproducibility in the AI Era.”
AI offers enormous potential in medicine, but without transparency, careful validation, and collaboration, it risks amplifying the reproducibility crisis. In this piece, I discuss why p-values aren’t enough, why independent replication matters, and how clinicians, statisticians, and computer scientists can work together to ensure trustworthy results.

2/3 college students say "trying hard" should be a factor in their grades. 1/3 expect at least a B just for showing up.
The true measure of learning is not the time and energy you put in. It’s the knowledge and skills you take out.

Instead of nightclubs I want a 24hr library with hot chocolate stations, a dessert bar, coffee machine, big comfy chairs and beanbags, blankets, dogs welcome, just people who want to spend the evening reading alone, together, peaceful, a cosy fire, plants, an indoor waterfall.
