Another luminary joins the commercial side of Quantum Computing: Peter Shor @PeterShor1 joins @Zapata_Quantum as Scientific Advisor.
Shor joins a growing list of academics including:
John Preskill @preskill of CalTech who joined @TeamOratomic, and Scott Aaronson of UT Austin who started an investment fund with his brother, BQP Partners, which invested in Oratomic.
Additionally, there is John Martinis who recently started Qolab, and was a key figure working on Google's quantum efforts. And, of course, Chris Monroe who co-founded @IonQ_Inc a dozen years ago.
Process: I generated lyrics with @openai Astra from my original content on https://t.co/Drwcjphphe. Then generated multiple tracks and styles on @suno. From that, I worked with Astra to define the creative brief and treatment. I sourced a variety of references including @_mexicat's p(doom) (the catalyst of this, tbh), @AstrablueAI's Kill Switch, and @0xsarac ff-tracking tools (HUD style). Fed all that into @claudeai and generated high-level plan and rough video draft of each section of the song. Then from clips worked on final lyrics including typography, animation, and effects.
A lot of back and forth with Claude on:
Camera authoring
Editing
Lighting
Style and positioning of elements
Audio-reactive design
Typography and lyrics
Motif and decorations
Color grading
Post-processing and video effects
Astra stepped in a few times when there were bugs and solved them quickly.
I started on this a week ago and a lot has happened: SlopCore is ascendant! I love that AI has its own medium. And, while Q-Day is looming as a risk for cryptography, AI has suddenly come to the fore as well. Wonder what next week will bring?
Yesterday, we were excited to announce the Quantum+X Grand Research Challenge: Where quantum possibility becomes quantum reality. Thanks to our industry partners—including @bp_america, Citi, @mastercard, @moderna_tx, SLB, and @Visa for joining us to tackle real-world challenges in biotech, energy, and finance. Prize challenge launches later this year alongside even more industry partners—get ready! https://t.co/6JAmFo6IO9
Exciting times! The Genesis program, along with DARPA's QBI, the vibrant investment ecosystem, and emerging AI capabilities to super-charge human capital, should accelerate the development of quantum computers over the near term
The real test of quantum computing is what it can make possible for science.
@ENERGY’s 8 new Quantum Genesis Priority Applications will help us measure progress against real scientific problems and guide our work through Quantum Genesis.

Crazy bet: If wrong, MSFT loses a tiny slice of their total capital. If right, they could win most of the market. Asymmetric maxxing by Satya and co.
Making a dent in the universe. Crazy misfits and rebels.
Microsoft releases controversial Majorana qubits for independent testing
Microsoft has made its quantum chips available to DARPA (the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) for independent testing. Microsoft has repeatedly claimed to have created topological qubits based on noise-protected Majorana modes. This claim has remained highly controversial, partly because the group at Microsoft did not publish data that actually supports their claim, and partly because they previously had to retract several papers about their research.
DARPA will now test the hardware independently as part of its Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, whose purpose is to determine whether proposed quantum-computing architectures can actually scale to useful machines.

I published a new Note today providing a high-level overview of how I see the quantum computing market developing over the next decade.

working on an essay about the development of the Quantum Computing market
here's a snapshot of my thinking. the timeline will vary by vendor.
more to come soon.
My recent essay and research into the cost of cracking cryptography with a quantum computer.
tl;dr - $20M - $10B, depending on the modality, architecture, and vendor

Most experts predict Q-Day by 2030. "It may feel distant, but in cybersecurity terms, it's right around the corner."
Are you prepared?
