Kay Sakai Nakao turned 100 last Friday and spent part of her milestone birthday at Sakai where students greeted her with warm wishes. The community is invited to celebrate Kay on Jan. 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Sakai. She is a true treasure for our community! #bisd303

For 12 years, the BHS Social Justice League has held a Fall Food Drive for Helpline House. They delivered this year's haul on Friday....and it was a whopping 8,500 pounds -- the 2nd highest amount in its 12 years of collecting. What a feat!

It's become a tradition for a Thankful Lunch to be served on the Thursday before Thanksgiving. Students and staff enjoy a full turkey dinner with their school families. Thank you to our fabulous Food Services crew for baking turkey and all the trimmings. What a treat! #bisd303

Way to go Woodward Builder's Club! These students helped raise money for UNICEF's Project Eliminate, which makes tetanus vaccines available in developing countries. The club members promoted the cause to their classmates with posters and announcements. More than $800 was raised!

The BHS Varsity Volleyball team wrapped up their season with a trip to the district tournament. Although they played hard, they lost to Lakeside. On the ferry ride home last night, they ran into Spartan fan Governor Jay Inslee -- what an ending to a memorable season. #bisd303

For 7.5 years, Mev Hoberg has served as a director on the BISD school board. Tonight was her last meeting as a school board member -- but we know it isn't the last we will see of her. Thank you, Mev, for your unwavering support. BISD is stronger because of you. #bisd303
