The 5th #DemocraticDebate is tonight following the Song Foundation's open forum! Join CAL U's International Institute next week to discuss and learn more about where candidates stand on the topic of #immigrationreform! #chtown19
Looking at historical trends, it is incredibly likely that the night market will draw attention, but drawing from the clientele of pre-existing, locally owned businesses. Maybe the market will thrive, but LA Chinatown community members will not.
Eugene Li found Mayor Maria's body. Mayor Maria was poisoned. Deadly toxins just found in Tiger Herb shop. Eugene Li acting as project administrator for their proposal ????
How will this night market affect the local businesses that want to preserve tradition and would rather remain in their current space? #gentrification#chtown19
I am disappointed to see the lack of attention towards promoting community cohesion in the LACNA proposal. Money isn't the answer to everything! @RealtorRob4#chtown19
After hours of discussion, I'm confident that our proposal advocates for our students and LA Chinatown immigrant community & more importantly, reflects what Laura would've wanted. #excited for tmrw! (also happy to take questions on my anti-aging skincare regimen tmrw) #chtown19
Loved meeting with the CalU profs earlier today to talk proposals for the land. Its partnerships like these that remind me of how strong the LA Chinatown community is, excited to work more with these awesome educators!

@ChinatownGame It's unfortunate that students and faculty have to fight so hard for the recognition these programs deserve. I'm proud to work for an institution that's setting an example for schools across the nation, but there's still a lot of work to be done~ #supporteducation#chtown19
Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving break! So excited to finalize proposals on Wednesday with other CalU faculty members and support our students with scholarships & other programs. @ISprofCalu@u_latin@celinewangcalu@ISfacCalu
Having great convos @ the forum! CalU faculty and activists @Activist_CtCED@CcedCalu discussed how we can unite to promote community-engaged research. Working to educate about past + present LA Chinatown and gentrification without disrupting the existing community! #chtown2019
I stand with the mayor and @elizabethcoleLA on immigrant rights. As a proud faculty in the Center for the Study of International Migration at Cal U, I have a vision to advance educational programs centering on immigration reforms. Would appreciate any suggestions. #chtown19
@ the open forum -- very powerful hearing everyone speak so positively about Laura + the LA Chinatown immigrant community. Very gratified to hear Laura's uncle @AlexSongCTown emphasize the need for the foundation to focus on immigration rights and Asian American Studies #chtown19
Happy to hear that our representatives recognize and honor the impact that immigrants have in our community @elizabethcoleLA. I fully agree that we should be looking at proposals to make our community a safe space for immigrants. #chtown19
"We are not born in factions, we are LA" -- @LAMayorchtown19's quote conveying the importance of a united LA community is something we should all take note of! #chtown19
