India’s inflation story isn’t as comforting as the headline CPI number suggests. Here’s why.
Retail inflation (CPI) for June 2026 stands at 4.38%, but wholesale inflation (WPI) is a much higher 9.15%. This wide gap indicates that producers are facing significantly higher input costs, many of which may eventually be passed on to consumers.
The bigger concern lies ahead. Rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly the US–Iran conflict, have the potential to push crude oil prices higher. At the same time, the threat of an El Niño-induced weak monsoon could fuel food inflation. Together, these are a potent inflationary mix.
If these risks materialise, India could see sustained inflationary pressure, leaving the RBI with limited room to cut interest rates.
The next few months will be crucial. Keep an eye on three indicators: crude oil prices, monsoon performance, and monthly CPI inflation. They are likely to determine the direction of interest rates, fixed deposit returns, borrowing costs, and market sentiment in the second half of the year.

Waking up to urinate every night isn’t always “just ageing.” Common causes include reduced night-time ADH, fluid returning from the legs, sleep apnoea, diabetes and prostate or bladder problems. If it happens often, talk to your doctor. Early diagnosis can make a big difference.

@PratibhaGoyal If you are a non resident Indian individual and you hold foreign assets or earn foreign income, whether declaration of foreign assets is legally mandatory?
INCOME TAX MAJOR DEVELOPMENT: CBDT has paved the way for reporting AEOI/CRS information in the Annual Information Statement (Form 168). 🔥🔥
Going forward, taxpayers with overseas bank accounts, investments, interest, dividends or other reportable foreign financial assets should reconcile these with their Income Tax Return and foreign asset disclosures.
Any mismatch between the reported information and tax filings could lead to verification or scrutiny.

#WATCH | Bengaluru, Karnataka: Dr Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Naryana Health says, "The biggest problem in our country is that people don't know that how fit they feel has nothing to do with how fit they are. You can have very serious heart problem, yet you may not be aware of it. People are refusing to go for a health checkup. You have seen so many people just dropping down dead on a treadmill or running marathon or a day to day activity. If they went for a basic check like a blood test, an ECG, and a cardiac CT scan, that's all, none of those people would have had a heart attack, none of them. Because the blockage would have been diagnosed and they would have been under treatment. So the problem of healthy people the suddenly dropping down dead could have been eliminated completely if only people went for a health checkup. Our biggest problem is people refuse to see the doctors unless they have pain..."
#WATCH | Bengaluru, Karnataka: Dr Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Naryana Health says, "Every Indian, at the age of 17 must get the blood test done. This is the guideline now issued by the Cardiology Society of India because if the cholesterol level is high, they can manipulate the diet and all the men at the age of 35 to 40 should undergo a routine test along with CT scan of the heart. Anyone with the family history of heart disease must go for the checkup at the age of 30 itself, not wait for long time. All the diabetics should go for the checkup even earlier than 30 years. It is important that everyone should know their numbers. They should know what their blood pressure is, cholesterol number is, their heart numbers are. Today we find large number of young people getting into extreme sport. Even if you are very young, 17 or 18, if you are going for extreme sport, you must go for a checkup... The best way to know what the cardiac problems are to the test done. As I said, simple tests which can be done within one hour, once a year. If the CT scan is normal, for the next seven years or ten years you don't need to bother..."
I think that this message is designed to stoke fear by misinterpreting a legal clarification meant to streamline corporate payroll compliance as an all-out attack on workers' savings.
Here is the truth behind what is actually happening with your PF as per EPF scheme 2026.
The ₹1,800 cap on mandatory contributions is not a new rule. It has been the law under the old 1952 scheme since September 2014. Legally, employers have only ever been required to contribute up to this threshold.
The new EPF Scheme 2026 has not made any change in the above rule. It effectively states that any contribution made by an employee above ₹1,800 is voluntary, and employers are not legally forced to match it.
So,
1. If your basic salary is ₹15,000 or less: Absolutely nothing changes for you. Your mandatory contribution remains 12% (₹1,800), matched by your employer.
2. If your basic salary is higher than ₹15,000: Many companies already structure their Cost-to-Company (CTC) packages to pay 12% on your actual full basic salary (which can be much higher than ₹1,800). The new rule does not forbid companies from doing this. It just clarifies that doing so is a voluntary company policy rather than a legal compulsion. Most established companies will keep their existing salary structures intact to stay competitive and retain talent.

A woman from Hyderabad watched travelers panic at check-in. People argued over luggage, repacked bags on the floor, or threw away perfectly good items just to avoid hefty fees.
Then she decided to solve the problem with her startup, Avaan Excess, which lets travelers send their extra luggage home for as little as ₹89 per kg.
