Release Political Prisoners of Disputed Gilgit Baltistan

Gilgit Baltistan is an integral part of UN recognised Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan. Pakistan recognises its disputed status, therefore, it is not constitutionally part of the state of Pakistan.

The extra-constitutional local government of GB installed by the ruling elite of Pakistan has illegally arrested comrade Ehsan Ali Advocate and 11 other leaders of Awami Action Committee (AAC) on flimsy and bogus charges of sedition. Leaders of AAC were protesting peacefully for peace in the region and against illegal capturing of natural resources and heritage assets of GB through Green Tourism Private Limited established under SIFC.

Under 77 years of colonial and extra-constitutional control of Pakistan GB, a region critically important globally for climate change and water reserves it holds benefiting over 2 billion people in Asia , has been pushed towards ecological catastrophe by colonial bureaucracy.

We the people of Gilgit Baltistan urge UN, international and national human rights organisations, progressive parties, women and student bodies of Pakistan and climate change activists to raise your voice against illegal detention and attempts to capture ecological resources of disputed Gilgit Baltistan.
