Do people go NFT shopping on Black Friday?
Based on last year, not really.
Thanksgiving (11/25/21) and Black Friday (11/26) were pretty slow days for NFT sales.
Blur announced that they will enforce royalties on projects that block 0-royalty marketplaces. This is important:
a) It creates more options for projects & collectors that want royalties enforced
b) It tempers the narrative that OpenSea is using the block to monopolize
Only buy an NFT if you:
a) expect it to be worth something in 5 years
b) are good at selling NFTs & know the exit plan
or
c) feel connection & are fine with it going to 0
know which category each buy fits into.
FTX got funded at a $32bn valuation in January and just had an overnight fire-sale after a bank run started yesterday.
The speed it happened with can obscure how big of an event this is.
The greatest flex for our parents' generation was financial security - house, savings, sending their kids off to school.
The greatest flex for our generation is making big bets - investing in projects, building networks, growing our brand.
I have talked to 3 people on Gobblers today:
One was annoyed he didn't get an Allowlist spot
One was annoyed he didn't sell above 20 ETH
One was annoyed he sold below current floor
I increasingly think no one is happy.

i wasn't allowed to take art in school.
today meant a lot to me
NFT volumes are slow. Very slow.
But people are still regularly paying $10k for JPGs. In the heart of a bear market.
The "NFTs as collectibles" use case is very hard to explain to outsiders.
But it's real and not going away.

I’ve had a few people suggest @Disney acquire @coolcatsnft. I don’t see it. It doesn’t fill any gaps. Cool Cats is dope IP, but Disney has great IP. It would make more sense to acquire a brand that fits and has great devs like @OnChainMonkey, @pixelvault_, or @jenkinsthevalet.
