We are excited to announce our next major event: Bitcoin Unconference 03, happening right here in Nairobi, Kenya, this April!🙌

In collaboration with and supported by @MyFirstBitcoin_ , this Unconference is all about bringing together grassroots projects from across the East African region. Our goal is to strengthen the local #Bitcoin community by providing a space where young, upcoming projects can showcase their work, build their confidence, and learn directly from more experienced builders in the space.

This is a free entry event, and we’re super excited to be hosting over 10 grassroots projects that are making a real difference. Whether you’re a newbie, an expert, or a #Bitcoin educator, this is the place to connect, network, and grow.

BITCOIN MEETUP 002 🇰🇪

Yesterday in Thika, we had a great #Bitcoin Meetup.
We aimed to educate attendees on the introduction to #Bitcoin, set up #Bitcoin wallets, do #Bitcoin transactions, hold a Q&A session, and finally a networking session.

Physical meetups truly enhance hands-on learning, and it was great to hear the amazing questions from attendees, as well as engage in practical activities of setting up a Bitcoin wallet and moving sats around.

We are excited to continue hosting these monthly meetups, bringing them closer to people and universities.

Ronnie from @AfribitKibera delivered a unique presentation by bringing the voice of the community directly to the stage. Rather than a solo talk, he showcased Proof of Work (PoW) from members of the Kibera Bitcoin Circular Economy, giving them a platform to share firsthand experiences.

Community members spoke about: The real-life impact of Bitcoin in informal settlements & their perspectives on how #Bitcoin is transforming lives at the grassroots level

It was a heartfelt session that reminded us why this work matters—Bitcoin isn't just a technology; it's a tool for economic empowerment.

Coming next, @okjodom from @bitsacco delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the future of SACCOs in a Bitcoin-powered world.

He emphasized why SACCOs remain a key financial pillar for many communities, and how leveraging Bitcoin’s properties could serve as a major upgrade—addressing the limitations faced by traditional SACCOs tied to the fiat standard.

Jodom also shed light on the current crisis within SACCO systems, and introduced @bitsacco as a forward-thinking solution—powered by #Bitcoin, built to restore trust, efficiency, and sustainability in community finance.

It was a timely and impactful session for anyone thinking about real-world Bitcoin use cases
