My sister has found a spacious, sunlit 3BHK in Godrej Central Chembur, which is a ~15 minute drive to BKC, and is looking for 2 (female) flat-mates starting June 1st!
Do DM if interested! @fmrmumbai@MumbaiRoomi
Why aren't more mainstream Indian papers doing this sort of ground + data reports? Even if they don't have the 💰to do such interactives/gfx, the narrative possible.
Just needs editorial will, such a story. Gr8 stuff @anniegowen et al in @washingtonpost

"When the neighbourhood aunty would cook rajma on Sundays, she would bring some for me. My mother would do the same for her kids. It was made sure that a dabba is never returned empty."
If you grew up in a small town and now live in a city for work/college, this essay is for you!
The best memoir writing comes from those who don't give into navel gazing and can look themselves in the eye. "There was more interest in my face than there ever was in my intellect. This is one reason that I have loved ageing—it has evened the scales."

“‘If I had my jaw wired shut,’ she announced, ‘I’d suck double cream through a straw’.”
Today’s Cooking from Life column is about @Ro_Mclaughlin memories of her grandparents, their attitude to food and life, and a recipe for Tarte Dijonnaise

I'm conducting the fortnightly KQA pub quiz this Wednesday at 8.30 pm!
I promise a fun and accessible set of questions, with some terrible jokes thrown in. So please register and show up!
@itsliamcollens@pallavisangtani This is a fantastic list, thank you. Can attest to the knafeh from Feras Sweets being a flake-y creamy delight. Bookmarking this for the next Dubai visit!
@mvarghoose This is a lovely question.
The hallyu wave, for sure. Themes like friendship, love, careers, loss are treated with such incredibly relatable nuance that I find it hard to shift back to mainstream pop culture.
I'm always pitching it to friends hoping they feel the same thing!
From 'A Bite in Time' by Tanya Mendonsa - located in the aisles of @ChampacaBooks by @shreyas94 because "it's about food, and Goa, so you need to have it!"
It's a food-filled memoir of the author's life in Calcutta, Paris, Goa, Bangalore and the Nilgiris. I did need to have it.
"Having looked at so many riches of every type, absorbed them, thought about them and tasted them, I had stored up a treasure of memories that would bear a fruit in the years to come, when I would draw on them endlessly in my creative work"
Oh, to build a treasure of this kind.
Relished the fantastic collection of food writing at @enthucutletmag. I am now mentally in the 90s armed with party snacks, maggi & hajmola.
Current favourite is this delight by @chasingiamb, which I'll use to cleanse my soul every time I see a QR menu: https://t.co/OJmaIilXLj
I discovered that my daughter will use an implement closest in size and shape, if the one she wants is not available. Ladles, inverted forks, disposable cutlery from restaurants, straws, and at a pinch, fingers. But she will not wash a spoon. +
