@LSU_Saintsfan_@geoffschwartz I mean we won that game in an embarrassing fashion but yeah that game was largely due to a terrible performance from Bryce, he has a lot of issues
@sonofguinness@paceball__ That 15 game stretch includes a stretch where the tigers won 6 of 9 and fought their way into a playoff spot? The team was objectively not “falling off” during the majority of that stretch, and it’s also just an insanely small sample to try and draw nay meaningful trends from
@sonofguinness@paceball__ A .764 OPS across a 15 game sample for a shortstop being proof of him “falling off” is absolutely insane
That said I agree Mune has a good case and could end up winning considering the current team+player trajectories
@Ronzopleaj@RealBullyBall That’s literally the point of the above tweet. Relievers are unpredictable, it’s completely within the realm of possibility that some combination of Finnegan/Holton/Jansen rediscover their best stuff in October, or some pairing of Sommers/Madden/Ryan/EDJ catch fire
@C2Cbsbl@SleeperDodgers@Ken_Rosenthal The reason he’s (almost) 28 with (almost) no big league innings is because
1) he was drafted out of college at 22 (almost 23), primarily as a hitter
2) he’s had TJ twice since converting to pitching full time, which happens to plenty of pitchers around the league
@C2Cbsbl@SleeperDodgers@Ken_Rosenthal Dang that’s a good point. You’re probably right, I bet they had no idea about his medicals. I hope they hire you next considering you’re light years smarter than them
@dynastydrewff@TJStats@RichJacobs1020 Because Ryan isn’t the comp to Pena, Pena is the comp to Hope, both consensus top 20-50 prospects in baseball, similar level (hope a bit further along, and a slightly better positional fit for DET). Ryan should be compared to the #2 player offered by MIL, such as Jett/Adamczewski
@Kn1ghtime@deeptocenter - at all to his actual talent level and projected major league contributions?
If you knew anything about stuff models, scouting, FIP, xERA, ERA- , run environments, or even accounted for the fact that he’s actively rehabbing, you might start to have a clue
@Kn1ghtime@deeptocenter Do you think that every front office, media analyst, professional scout and so on just doesn’t have the same access to a small sample size of his AAA ETA while rehabbing? Are you smarter than all of them? Or can your brain start to comprehend that those numbers do not correlate -
@Kn1ghtime@deeptocenter There is literally absolutely no “data” that supports your argument suggesting River will be anything but a high-impact MLB pitcher other than a potential injury.
@Miggysbat@dwisniew269 Yep, his 4s velo was trending down last two starts and (unfortunately, I love him and hope it doesn’t happen) he probably wasn’t going to make it through the whole season at close to 100% health. Meaning either playing thru it causing another 2nd half falloff or alot of IL time
@Kn1ghtime@deeptocenter Good way to live as a fan bro, just expecting the worst possible case scenario (which is unlikely) and praying on the injury-induced downfall of a really talented player on your own team
@gards69z@SirotaMVP@RandylandSZN Fwiw I think Hope will be ranked higher than Pena on midseason / post-deadline prospect lists due to the trends each have had this season, and I think even the leaked report put out by the Brewers said they were only offering Pena + 1 t100 hitter + 1 hitter outside the t100
@stbadgers@ItsBrandonHere3@PainTrain36@beicksquad79219@FoulTerritoryTV@AdamMcCalvy It’s possible but it’s also possible they viewed Ryan as a valuable target (I do, many teams would) and I’d bet that the upwards trends from Hope this year put him above Pena who (to my understanding) has dealt with some nagging injuries. They also may have coveted OF > IF
