His Majesty King Abdullah II meets the His Highness President of the UAE to discuss regional developments

His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, discussed today, Monday, regional developments and ways to de-escalate the ongoing tensions.

During their meeting in the United Arab Emirates, the two leaders affirmed their condemnation of any attacks on Jordan and the UAE and on their sovereignty. They stressed that Arab states were not parties to the war and did not initiate it; rather, they have sought to contain the crisis and prevent the region from sliding into a broader conflict.

His Majesty noted that Jordan continues to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens and preserve its security and stability.

The two leaders emphasized the need to intensify joint Arab action and strengthen coordination with partners and key players to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable de-escalation that would restore stability to the region. They also underscored the necessity of relying on dialogue and diplomacy to bring the conflict to an end.

His Majesty also warned of the danger of exploiting the current developments as a pretext to restrict worshippers’ access to Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif, and to impose a new reality in the West Bank and Gaza.
